Onoccasion, indoor moisture producing activities such asclothes drying,
cooking, showers, etc., may raise t he RH level higher than itshould be, e ven
though t heAprilaire humidifier is notoperating. Telltale i ndications are
condensation orfrost oncold surfaces such a s windows, doors, walls, etc. I f
such c ondensation persists forseveral hours, your home should beventilated
todissipate thepotentially damaging excess moisture.
Your humidifier isdesigned tooperate using h ot, c old, hard o rmechanically
softened water. (Hot water isrequired forModels 350 and 360.)
Water c ontains varying amounts ofminerals. The residue remaining asa
result o f hard water e vaporation is primarily calcium andmagnesium
components and isusually quite h ard, scaly, and dense.
Residue from softened water tends tobesoft a nd fluffy and has agreater
volume than hard w ater deposits. Ineither case, the service lifeofaWater
Panel evaporator willbethesame. The W ater P anel evaporator should be
changed atleast o nce a year w iththeexception ofModels 400A and
400M which should bechanged atleast twice a heating season. Inthe
drain-equipped models, most o f themineral solids arecontrolled by
flushing them down t hedrain.
Hotsupply w ater, 1 40°F m aximum, is recommended withdrain type
humidifiers forincreasing capacity and isrequired forheat p ump a nd air
handler applications.
For best performance,we recommendthat you replace the Water
Panel evaporatorin yourAprilaire humidifierat least annually with
the exception of Models 400A and 400M which shouldbe changed
at least twice per heating season.
The"Change Water Panel"indicatorlight(AutomaticControl o nly)will blink
whenit is timeto changeyourWater Panel. S eeindividual m odelinstructions
for additionalmaintenance.
