Question
My remote control does not work.
What should I do?
How come the Initial setup
appears every time I turn on this

Why are captions not displayed
entirely? Or, captions are delayed
behind the dialog.
How can I set the clock ?
I cannot change the [Child Lock]
setting because my PIN code no

Troubleshooting Guide

Iftheunitdoesnotperformproperlywhenoperatedasinstructedinthismanual,  
check the following chart and all connections once before calling for service.

Answer
• Checktheantennaorcableconnectiontothemainunit.
• Checkthebatteriesoftheremotecontrol.
• Checkifthereisanobstaclebetweentheinfraredsensorwindowandtheremotecontrol.
• Testthesignaloutputuse[IR Signal Check]. 
Ifokay,  thenpossibleinfraredsensortrouble.
• Aimtheremotecontroldirectlyattheinfraredsensorwindowonthefrontoftheunit.
• Reducethedistancetotheunit.
• Re-insertthebatterieswiththeirpolarities(+/–signs)asindicated.
• Whenthereisaninfrared-equippeddevicesuchasPCnearthisunit,  itmayinterrupttheremote
controlsignalofthisunit.
• Movetheinfrared-equippeddeviceawayfromthisunit,  changetheangleoftheinfraredsensoror
turnofftheinfraredcommunicationfunction.
• ConnecttheRFcoaxialcabletotheunitdirectlyandruntheinitialsetup.
• Makesuretocompletethechannelscanbeforetheunitgoesintostandbymode.
• Makesure[Autoprogram]hasbeencompleted. 
• Autoprogrammustbecompletedwhenyousetuptheunitforthefirsttimeormoveittoalocation
wherepreviouslyunavailablechannelsarebroadcast.
• Theselectedchannelmaynotbebroadcasting.
• When[Autoprogram]isinterruptedandnotcompleted,  somechannelswillnotbereceived.  Make
suretocompletetheAutoprogram. 
• Theselectedchannelcannotbeviewedbythe[Child Lock]setting. 
• Theunitrequiressomekindofantennainput.  Anindoorantenna(VHF/UHF),  anexternalantenna
(VHF/UHF)oranRFcoaxialcablefromyourwallcable/satelliteboxneedstobepluggedintotheunit.
• CheckifthecorrectinputmodeisselectedbypressingSOURCEorusingCH + / −.  [Switching Each
Input Mode] p. 12

• Checktheantennaorcableconnectiontotheunit.
• WhenusingtheComponentVideoConnectioncheckthattheGreen(Y),  Blue(Pb/Cb)andRed(Pr/
Cr)connectorsareconnectedtotheircorrespondingcoloredjacksontheunit.
• Manydigitalchannelshavealternatechannelnumbers.  Theunitchangesthenumbersautomaticallyto
theonessignifyingthebroadcastingstationchannelnumber.  Thesebasicnumbersusedforprevious
analogbroadcasts.  (e.g.,  inputch#30autochangestoch#6.1)
• Captionsthataredelayedafewsecondsbehindtheactualdialogarecommonforlivebroadcasts. 
Mostcaptioningproductioncompaniescandisplayadialogtomaximumof220wordsperminute.  If
adialogexceedsthatrate,  selectiveeditingisusedtoinsurethatthecaptionsremainup-todatewith
thecurrentTVscreendialog.
• Thereisnoclockfunctiononthisunit.
• IfaPowerfailureoccursforlongerthan10secondsthechildlocksettingisretained,  butthePINcode
issettothedefaultcode"0000".  [Child Lock]
Remedy
• MakesuretheACpowercordispluggedin.
• MakesurethattheACoutletsuppliesthepropervoltage,  pluganotherelectricalapplianceintothe
ACoutlettoensurethatACoutletoperatesnormally.
• Ifapowerfailureoccurs,  unplugtheACpowercordfor1minutetoallowtheunittoresetitself.
• Pressonlyonebuttonatatime.  DoNOTpressmorethanonebuttonatthesametime.
• Ensurethatnobuttonsontheremotecontrolaredepressedandmovefreely.
• Checkwhethertheconnectionoftheantenna,  cablereceiverorsatelliteboxisconnectedcorrectly.
• Checkwhetherallthecablestotheunitareconnectedtothecorrectoutputjackofyourdevicelike
Blu-ray/DVDrecorder.
• Makesurethattheselectedinputmodeisconnectedtotheworkinginputjack.
• CheckifyourcomputerisNOTinsleepmodewhentheinputmodeofthisunitisinPCmode.  Tap
anykeyonthekeyboardtowakeupyourcomputer.
