You can define and include one or more fixed costs in the cost models and modify the billing policy to consider
the defined fixed costs.
Refer to the vCenter Chargeback User's Guide for detailed instructions on creating and configuring cost models,
billing policies, and fixed costs.
Configuring Costs at Different Levels Within an Organization
You can configure costs on individual organization vDCs, vApps, virtual machines, media and template files,
and networks within an organization. You can set different rate factors for each of the computing resources at
these levels for a selected cost model. This enables you to charge different entities differently using the same
cost model. You can also define different fixed costs at different levels. For example, you can define a fixed cost
for the operating system at the virtual machine level and a fixed cost for network maintenance at the network
level.
You can also enable or disable billing at any of the levels within the organization. vCenter Chargeback does
not account for an entity on which billing is disabled when a report is generated on any of its parent levels.
The cost configuration on an entity can be different for different periods. vCenter Chargeback lets you define
the period for which the specified cost configuration is applicable.

Generating Reports
After you define and configure the cost models and configured costs at different levels within an organization,
you can generate reports for that organization or any of the entities in the organization. You can generate
report on one or more entities within an organization at the same time.
vCenter Chargeback lets you use different cost models for different entities, if you are generating a report for
more than one entity at the same time. Refer to the vCenter Chargeback User's Guide for detailed instructions on
how to generate different reports at the organization level and at individual entity levels.
