Quick Start Guide

We know you're excited about owning an ASKO dishwasher and you're anxious to get started, so here's a brief summary of the operation
procedures. The page references in this Guide refer to the Use and Care Guide. To get the most out of your dishwasher's features, we
recommend that you read the Use and Care Guide.
THE CONTROL PANEL
THE CONTROL PANEL
The D1996 models have touchpad control panels, as illustrated below. To turn the power on, press the button on the far left of the control
panel. To select a wash program or option, simply press the appropriate touchpad. When you press a touchpad, a red indicator light at
the upper left of the touchpad glows to show that you selected that program or option. After you've selected the desired wash programs
and options, press Start. At this point, the indicator lights will flash rapidly, alternating from left to right, to show that the dishwasher is
ready. Simply close the door securely to start the machine.
On/Off Control
Press this button to turn power
to the machine on and off.
Touchpad Controls
Press these touchpads to select
programs and options.
PROGRAMS AND OPTIONS
PROGRAMS AND OPTIONS
Your ASKO dishwasher has four wash programs as well as several other options specifically designed to reduce your energy costs and
make your life easier. Press the On/Off button to turn the machine on, then select the desired program and option(s).
Programs
Pots & Pans / Sani-wash
Cleans and sanitizes the heaviest soiled loads, such
as pots, pans, casseroles, etc.
Normal
For normally soiled loads, such as plates, glasses,
bowls, and lightly soiled pans.
Quick
For lightly soiled loads that are washed immediately
after use. Items such as fine china and crystal can be
washed in this program, but you should use the low
temperature setting and turn off the Heat Dry.
(Recommend 130°F)
Rinse & hold
To rinse dishes that you plan to wash later that day.
After you've selected the wash program and options, press Start. The indicator lights will flash rapidly, alternating from left
to right. This merely means the machine is ready. Close the door securely to start the dishwasher. (See also "Understanding
the Indicator Lights" on the next page.)
PROGRAM MEMORY
PROGRAM MEMORY
If you select the Pans/Sani or Normal wash program, the dishwasher retains the setting until you change them. So when you turn the
machine on the next time, the indicator lights for the program and options you last used will be lit. Simply press Start and close the door. If
you want to change the settings, press the touchpad(s) for the other program or options you want to use, then press Start and close the door.
Indicator Lights
These lights glow red to indicate which
program and options you have selected.
Start
After you've selected the desired wash program and options,
press this touchpad and close the door to start the dishwasher.
Note: When you press Start, the red indicator lights flash rapidly,
alternating from left to right, to show that the machine is ready to
start. The dishwasher will start when the door is shut completely.
Options
Economy
When used with the low temperature settings, this option
further reduces energy consumption without diminishing
cleaning performance by lowering the water temperature in
the prewash and main wash and extending the wash time.
Temperature
Lets you select a high or low water temperature for the wash
programs (except Rinse). (See "Temperature Options" on
the next page.) The indicator light glows when it's on the
high setting and remains off when set on low.
Heat Dry
Activates the heating element during the drying cycle to dry
the dishes faster.
Delayed Start
Lets you delay running the dishwasher for five hours. After making
your selections, press the Delayed Start touchpad then press
Start and close the door. The machine will start five hours later.
