Installing Directory Server
If you are planning to use users and groups (for example, for access control) with
your Enterprise Server, you need to install
Enterprise Server, or use an exiting LDAP server installation.

Enterprise Server
6.0 and Directory Server 5.0 cannot exist in the same
directory. If you plan to install Directory Server 5.0 on the same machine as
your web server, you must install it in a different directory than your
Enterprise Server
6.0.
Directory Server
Directory Server 5.0 does not support the Linux platform. To use Directory
Enterprise Server
Server with
of the Directory Server or install Directory Server 5.0 on a separate UNIX or
Windows NT machine and configure your web server to connect to that
Directory Server. See the Netscape Enterprise Server Administrator's Guide.
You can install Directory Server and
Windows NT machine if you do the following:
• If during installation you are asked which version of libraries to install,
always select those which have the most recent release dates.
• If you need to uninstall either product, you must first make a copy of
the uninstall program (uninst.exe) since it will be removed during
the uninstall process. Also, you must uninstall
before you uninstall Directory Server.
Enterprise Server
• You must install
different directories.
Because the copy of Directory Server that is bundled with
Server
contains a limited license, any support contract you purchase for
Enterprise Server
is limited in Directory Server coverage to usage
