NOTICE
To empty the bowl of excess water, operate flush button until water
decreases to desired level.
NOTICE
Please locate the WC discharge seacocks and make sure to have them
closed for extended unattended periods of your boat, while in water.
Refer to the manual provided in your document bag.
Waste handling
If your boat is equipped with a holding tank, this tank is connected to
Waste Pumpout Outlet on starboard deck. You may have the waste pulled
at a marina pump out when necessary. Alternatively the waste water may
be discharged by the use of a macerator pump, a valve is provided in the
same location for selecting the method to use.
Dockside Pumpout – This system directs all waste to the holding tank. To
clear the tank of waste water, you will need to use the dockside pumpout
services provided at marinas, etc.
To empty the tank of waste, attach a suction hose to the pumpout plate
and to the dockside pump. The marina will handle the proper disposal of
the waste and may charge for this service.
Overboard Discharge – A "Y" valve is installed, in this version, between the
marine toilet and the waste holding tank. The "Y" valve can direct the flow
of waste to the holding tank, or direct to an outlet seacock for overboard
discharge of waste.
To operate overboard discharge, the "Y" valve lever must be in the
overboard position, and the waste water outlet seacock must be open.
Close the outlet water seacock when not in use.
To empty the waste holding tank, see Dockside Pumpout.
NORTHSTAR MANUAL
Macerator Pump – A "Y" valve is installed between the pumpout plate and
the macerator discharge seacock. The macerator pump is located between
the "Y" valve and the macerator discharge seacock. In this configuration,
all waste is flushed from the WC to the holding tank. The "Y" valve permits
you to use the dockside pumpout feature, or to use the macerator to pump
the waste from the holding tank overboard.
To pump out the holding tank using the macerator pump:
1. Open the discharge seacock.
2. Move the "Y" valve lever to the down or overboard position. Do not
run the pump dry. Running the pump when there is no waste to
pump out of the holding tank will shorten the life of the pump.
DO NOT run the pump dry. Running the pump when there is no waste to
pump out of the holding tank will shorten the life of the pump.
1. Activate the macerator pump by turning its switch ON.
2. Close the macerator discharge seacock and turn macerator pump
OFF after the pumpout is complete.
If your boat has an optional waste holding tank installed, various chemicals
are available to control odors and help break down solids. Consult your
marine dealer as to what to use. After the holding tank is emptied, fill tank
with fresh water and pump it out again to rinse.
Waste water discharge is governed by regulations which differ from
country to country.
Make sure you learn the regulations in your area of use before attempting
to discharge waste. Mishandling the waste may damage the environment
and also may cause you to incur heavy financial penalties.
