Tools to Rig Your Duffy You will need: 3/16” •Trim knife •Allen sockets or Allen wrenches •Needle nose pliers •Rubber mallet Trim Knife Using an Allen socket set up Recommended (But not required): will save you time, but you can use a regular Allen wrench.

Cut Shrink Wrap (from shipping) Using a trim knife, cut between the frame tube and the deck all the way around the boat. Pull the wrap away from the boat when cutting so you don’t scratch the fiberglass surface.

Remove Surrey Frame Cut the tie wraps from the hold down brackets so you can lift off the frame. Two people can easily lift and set the frame down on the ground. Remove the hold down brackets and save the screws. You can re-use the hold down brackets so you may want to save them for the future.

Remove Items From Inside Boat Locate the top legs wrapped item and open. Removing everything inside will allow you to move easier to install the metal frame and surrey fabric top.

Then number two will be directly behind number one and so on around the boat. The number 16 represents a Duffy 16 boat model. Secure each fastener snuggly. Anti-Seize material has been previously put on the threaded plate that is under the deck. This will allow you to remove the top in the future.

Install the Top Legs (continued) You will NOT be installing these two legs until AFTER the frame has been put on the other legs. Locate the small plastic bag taped to the surrey frame. You will see the small set screws for the top frame and three extra screws for the legs incase you loose any.

Install The Top Frame to The Legs You will need your 1/8 “ Allen wrench or Allen socket, needle nose pliers, and rubber mallet. Set the frame against the boat. Have two people inside the boat and one outside. The outside person can easily start the frame up while the two inside...

Install The Top Frame to The Legs (continued) Two of the legs will require you to fish the wire that is on the frame down through the leg. You may find it easier to Push the wires and connectors use your needle nose pliers through the hole and then secure the for pulling the wire out leg using the fasteners.

Installing the Frame to Legs (final steps) Pull down hard on each socket onto the let and use the rubber mallet to insure the let is at the bottom of the socket. Failure to do so will result in the windows not fitting properly! You may want to install some Loctite™...

Installing The Fabric Surrey Top Careful when using your trim knife on this box you may cut the surrey! Lay the top on the frame as shown. Start at the rear and go over the stern light. Find the Velcro flaps on the top. This is the rear of the top.

Installing The Fabric Surrey Top (continued) Spread the top on the frame as shown. Secure one corner first then go to the opposite corner and secure. Never secure more than one or two Velcro tabs per side before going over to the other side. You can always come back later and re-adjust a bit but it’s best to go from side to side pulling the valence...

Installing The Window System Do not open with your trim knife. Push the zipper ends to the back of the tube as shown. Do not run the zipper all the way out. Stop at the top tube. The window panels are marked on the inside with numbers 1 through 10.

Installing Bottom Velcro & Removing Top Velcro Strip Install bottom Velcro strip as shown. Remove the Velcro located on the surrey top edge. The strip was installed to make it easier for you to put the windows up. This Velcro will seal the surrey to the window flange keeping water out.

Turning it to the OFF position will not allow the batteries to charge. Duffy 16 Back Bay switch is in battery box. All other models switch is under seat on port side. Locate information in bag around steering wheel. Main on off switch location and motor support bracket removal instructions.
PLEASE READ Locate a 120 Volt power outlet and plug in your Duffy after you finish the rigging process. Batteries do not come fully charged. Confirm charger is working by looking at the charge indicator light on the dash. Check the main AC panel on the boat if light does not illuminate.
