VBC Composite A/V Balun Kit
CTX Transmitter, CRX Receiver
The VBC Composite Audio-Video Balun Kit provides
a pair of active baluns for sending composite video
and line-level stereo audio over a single CAT-5
cable. This allows signals to travel longer distances
without degradation or interference than with tradi-
tional types of cable.
The kit includes a CTX transmitter, a CRX receiver,
and an 846C power adapter, which connects to
either the transmitter or receiver for flexible
placement. Active circuitry in the transmitter auto-
matically adjusts the output level to compensate for
distance in the CAT-5 cable, thus eliminating signal
loss up to 1000 feet (305 m).
By using balanced signals, the transmitter and
receiver avoid direct electrical connections between
the source and destination devices. This prevents
ground loops, which can cause audio noise and
video hum bars. The balanced signals also resist
interference, resulting in higher fidelity audio and
cleaner video transmission.
The kit can be used to connect a remote source to a
multiroom audio-video controller or a video display
device. It can also be used to send the output of a
video distribution device to a distant video display
or A/V receiver.
An input buffer switch on the CTX transmitter
allows a source video signal to be split between the
transmitter and a local TV or A/V receiver without
affecting picture quality.
The transmitter and receiver are compact modules
for convenient installation. They can be mounted to
any flat surface.
