a great deal of progress has been achieved in the last
three years with connecting the stationary sirens to the
remote control system sfI 457, with the first cantons
completing the link-up as early as 2000.
By the end of 2003 only a quarter of stationary sirens
were connected to the sfI 457; by the end of 2004 40% were
online, with 54% connected one year later.

By early 2007 70% of stationary sirens could be
activated from a central location, rising to over 80% by the
end of 2007.
as the planning stands, three cantons will still not be
connected (or fully connected) to the sfI 457 by the end of
2008. The aim is to ensure that all stationary sirens can be
remote controlled by the end of 2010.
