Sewell InjectIR Manual

Ir over hdmi for remote controls

Quick Links

The Sewell InjectIR extends the signal from your remote controls (for Blu-Rays, DVRs, set-top boxes,
etc.) by sending the remote control's IR signal over an existing HDMI cable. This allows you to conceal
your home entertainment equipment behind cupboard or closet doors without losing the ability to
control them with a remote. Follow these instructions to use any of your connected HDMI cables to
extend your remote control signal.
The kit includes two small HDMI adapters and two small IR cables (the one labeled RX is the IR sensor
cable and the one labeled TX is the emitter cable.)

Step 1: Attach the InjectIR HDMI adapters to both ends of your HDMI
cable. Either HDMI adapter can go on either side of the HDMI cable.
Make sure the CEC/IR selector switches are set to "IR"
Step 2: Connect the InjectIR IR sensor cable (labeled Rx) to the TV
side. Position the sensor where it will have an unobstructed view to your
remote control (i.e. on top of the TV).
Step 3: connect the InjectIR IR Emitter cable (labeled Tx) to the equip-
ment side. Position the emitter in front of your equipment.
NOTE: The IR transmitter TX unit needs to be facing the front of your video
equipment. If you place the transmitter unit in front of multiple devices, it
can control multiple devices. Just make sure there is an unobstructed line of
sight between the TX transmitter unit and the IR receiver on each device.
Step 4: Now plug in the HDMI cable (with attached InjectIR adapters)
into your TV and equipment.
