Suggested Use:
• Introduce the Primary Science Mix & Measure Set to children by showing
and naming the pieces. Demonstrate how each piece can be used in
experiments. (Note: A photo of each piece and its name is shown on the
reverse side of this guide.)
• Give children time to explore the measurement tools on their own. This
will ensure that they have a basic understanding of how the tools work.
• Allow children "free play" time with the measurement tools (except for
the scale) and water. This gives children an opportunity to play and
practice using the tools before following the activity and recipe cards.
• Follow measurement activities and basic recipes with the 10 double-sided
activity cards. The activity cards are easy to follow, fun, and provide lots of
measurement experiences. An adult should assist children or oversee the
activities. Some extra supplies (from home or school) will be needed to
complete the activities. These are listed on the cards.
• Wash the measurement tools by hand with warm, soapy water after use.
(Note: Wipe the scale clean with a damp cloth. Do not submerge it in
water.)
• Note: Reset the scale to zero by moving the arrow so that it points
straight up.
