DESCRIPTION

KNOW YOUR CHARGER

RED/GREEN LED INDICATOR
Indicates the status of the solar charging adaptor.

OUTPUT SOCKET
Connects to the Nexus power station with the power cord of the Nexus power station.

INPUT SOCKET
Connects the solar panel to the power cord.

Solar Charging Adaptor Power Cord
Connects the adaptor and the solar panel.

OPERATION

The solar charging adaptor is designed to be powered by a 12V solar panel with MC4 connectors (not included) and charge the battery pack when no AC power is available outdoors. It cannot work independently, and must work with the EGO Nexus power station to charge the battery pack.

The solar charging adaptor can only work with 12V Solar Panel with MC4 connectors. Do not exceed 22V input for the solar charging adaptor. Doing so can cause serious damage to the solar charging adaptor and potential bodily injury. Check voltages when using third party solar panels with this solar charging adaptor. Do not chain solar panels in series (positive to negative, positive to negative, etc.), as this can result in dangerously high voltages.

CHARGING EGO PORTABLE BATTERIES

When bright sunlight is available, use the solar charging adaptor with a solar panel to charge EGO portable battery packs attached to the Nexus power station.

1. Connect the solar charging adaptor to the solar panel and the Nexus power station and make certain that all connections are secure (Fig.2):
   1. Solar charging adaptor power cord connecting the solar panel to the solar charging adaptor;
   2. Nexus Power Station power cord connecting the solar charging adaptor to the Nexus power station;
2. Align the raised ribs of the battery pack with the mounting slot in the Nexus power station and slide the battery pack down onto the power station. Make sure that the battery pack is securely attached to the power station.
3. Position the solar panel in direct sunlight. Position the solar charging adaptor out of direct sunlight. The solar charging adaptor will be powered by the panel and communicate with the battery pack to evaluate the condition of the battery. When the battery pack meets the charging conditions, the solar charging adaptor will begin charging the battery and the green LED indicator will flash.
4. When the battery pack is fully charged, the green LED indicator will stop flashing and shine solid green.

NOTE:

• Do not position the solar charging adaptor in direct sunlight. The solar charging adaptor may warm during charging. Move the solar charging adaptor to a wellventilated area in the shade.
• If the solar panel is obstructed by obstacles, or the orientation of the solar panel or the sun changes, the solar charging adaptor may not receive sufficient voltage and the charging will stop. If the solar charging adaptor input is restored by removing obstacles or adjusting the solar panel to directly face into the sunlight, charging will restart in 5 minutes.

LED FUNCTIONS OF THE SOLAR CHARGING ADAPTOR

CHARGING A HOT OR COLD BATTERY PACK

If the battery pack is out of the normal temperature range, the red indicator of the solar charging adaptor will shine continuously. When the battery pack back to the normal temperature range (approximately 37°F (3°C)-135°F (57°C)), the solar charging adaptor will automatically begin charging and the green indicator will flash normally.

MAINTENANCE

When servicing, use only identical replacement parts. Use of any other parts may create a hazard or cause product damage. To ensure safety and reliability, all repairs should be performed by a qualified service technician at an EGO Service Center.

It is not recommended to use compressed dry air as cleaning method of the solar charging adaptor. If cleaning with compressed air is the only method to apply, always wear safety goggles or safety glasses with side shields when using compressed air to clean the tool. If the operation is dusty, also wear a dust mask.

GENERAL MAINTENANCE

Avoid using solvents when cleaning plastic parts. Most plastics are susceptible to damage from various types of commercial solvents and may be damaged by their use. Use clean cloths to remove dirt, dust, oil, grease, etc.

Do not at any time let brake fluids, gasoline, petroleum-based products, penetrating oils, etc. to come in contact with plastic parts. Chemicals can damage, weaken or destroy plastic which may result in serious personal injury.

The operation of any power tools can result in foreign objects being thrown into your eyes, which can result in severe eye damage. Before beginning power tool operation, always wear safety goggles or safety glasses with side shields and a full face shield when needed. We recommend a Wide Vision Safety Mask for use over eyeglasses or standard safety glasses with side shields. Always use eye protection which is marked to comply with ANSI Z87.1.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS. This manual contains important instructions for Models CH1800/CH1800-FC that shall be followed during installation and maintenance of the solar charging adaptor.

• Before using the solar charging adaptor, read all instructions and cautionary markings on the solar charging adaptor, the battery and the product using battery.

When using electric appliances, basic precautions should always be followed, including the following.

• Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents.
• Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases or dust. Power tools create sparks, which may ignite the dust or fumes.
• To reduce the risk of injury, close supervision is necessary when an appliance is used near children.
• Only use attachments recommended or sold by manufacturer.
• For a portable appliance – To reduce the risk of electrical shock, do not put charger in water or other liquid. Do not place or store appliance where or can fall or be pulled into a tub or sink.

To reduce the risk of injury, charge only EGO 56V lithium-ion rechargeable batteries. Other types of batteries may burst, causing personal injury or damage.

• Have your solar charging adaptor serviced by a qualified repair person using only identical replacement parts. This will ensure that the safety of the power tool is maintained.
