To adjust the volume level, you use a level point. Moving the level point angles the Volume Line. When the Volume Line rises as it moves to the right, the volume level also gradually rises (producing a fade-in).
Page 130
Editing Audio Move the level point. To add a change in volume, bend the Volume Line at the level point. Drag the level point you want to move up or down. For a fade, move the level points at each end of the material up or down to create the fade.

Page 238
Effects About the Effect Editor for Audio Effects (Audio FX) The operation of the Effect Editor for audio effects is slightly different from the Effect Editor for other effects (that is, for video effects). In the Effect Editor for audio effects, various settings are made on the left side, while on the right side you can start and stop playback, switch the effect on and off, and adjust the final level.
Effects Saving Created Effects in the Material palette You can take an effect that you have used and save it in the Material palette. When you have changed an effect’s time or other setting from its default value, saving the changed effect lets you reuse it in a variety of other situations.
Effects Using the Motion Feature to Make Settings for Movement You can create motion with effects that have a button in the Effect Editor like the one shown in the figure. You can create motion that shifts the location of the effect over time.
Effects Creating a Moving Inset Screen Let’s make the settings for moving the inset screen in Picture-in-Picture. Place video on the tracks. Place the video material you want to use as the background in the Main Video track on the Timeline Palette. In the Insert track, place the video material you want to display as the inset-screen overlay.

Effects Register the key frame. Click the Register Key-frame Marker button to register the size and position you set in steps 5 and 6 at the location of the position bar (the top frame). After registering, the inset screen is displayed at the size of the dotted-line box you set in step 5 and at the position of the dotted-line box you set in step 6.
Page 244
Effects Register the key frame. Click the Register Key-frame Marker button. This registers the settings for the size and position you set in step 9 at the location of the position bar (the final frame). After registering, the inset screen is displayed at the size and position of the dotted- line box you set in step 9.
Page 245
Effects Perform rendering. Click the Rendering button to perform rendering. This lets you verify the effect with smooth movement. You can set key-frame markers not just at the beginning and end of material, but in the middle as well. Making settings in the middle makes it possible to create an inset screen that appears, gradually grows larger, stays at the same size, then gradually becomes smaller and disappears.
Effects Moving Mosaic or Blur You can make a mosaic or blur range move by using a procedure similar to moving an inset screen in Picture-in-Picture. Place video on the tracks. Place the video material to which you want to apply Mosaic or Blur in the Main Video track on the Timeline Palette.

Effects Perform rendering. Click the Rendering button to perform rendering. This lets you verify the effect with smooth movement. You can set key-frame markers not just at the beginning and end of material, but in the middle as well. Making settings in the middle makes it possible to track an on-screen object that is moving erratically, such as the license plate of a moving car.

Using the Library What Is the Library? In addition to projects, there is another container for saving material. Saving material in the Library makes it possible for you to use the material in other projects besides the one in which the material was captured. Saving titles, background video, logos, and other pieces of material that are used in multiple sequences eliminates the need to capture them every time.
Page 335
Using the Library Select the palette. Like the Material palette, the Library has four types of palettes: “Audio,” “Video,” “Title,” and “Effect.” The palette that you display differs according to the type of material saved. Select the palette that matches the type of material you want to save. Make sure that the palette displayed in the Library is the same type as the palette displayed in the project.
Using the Library Importing from the Library You can use material saved in the Library in any project. Now let’s copy material from the Library to a project. Open the project where you want to use Library material. Open the project you want as a the destination for Library material. Display the Library.
Using the Library Deleting Material from the Library When there is material that has already been copied to a project and will not be used again, it’s a good idea to delete it from the Library. This can help save space on the built-in hard disk.
Using Projects Creating a New Project To edit a new sequence, you first need to create a new project. You can create a new project by following the steps described below. From the “Project” menu, select “New.” Go to the Project menu and select “New.” A window for naming the project appears. Select the hard disk where you want to save.
From the Project menu, select “Open.” Go to the Project menu and select “Open.” The Project Selection window appears. The DV-7DL PRO, opening a project displays the sizes of existing projects in the Project Selection window. Choose the hard disk.
Saving After Finishing Editing Before you shut down the DV-7DL PRO or open another project, save the project you are working on. * For more information, refer to Shutting Down (p. 31) or Open the project. (p. 339).
This is useful when you are performing editing on more than one DV-7DL PRO unit, or when you are using more than one removable hard disk on a single DV-7DL PRO unit. Copying a project copies all the material and sequence data.
To go ahead and remove the project, click the “OK” button in the confirmation window. The project, including the material and titles in it, is completely deleted from the DV-7DL PRO’s hard disk. Please note that once you perform this operation, you cannot restore the removed project to its previous state.
Using Projects Feature for Listing and Managing Projects You can organize your projects while viewing them in list form. This lets you manage not only the built-in hard disk, but also an optional removable hard disk or CD-ROMs. Display the "Project Management Utility" window. Go to the Settings menu and select "Project Management Utility."The "Utility"...

Using Projects Work with the projects. Lining up the pointer with the name of a project and right-clicking displays a menu. You can run a menu item by moving the pointer to the item you want and clicking. The "Rename" and "Move to Trash" operations cannot be performed for a project currently open in the editing window (displayed in red).
Customizing System Settings The DV-7DL PRO, you make settings for the keyboard and mouse and set the time and date for the DV-7DL PRO’s calendar via the “System Setting Utility” window. There is normally no need to make these settings, but if you are not comfortable with the speed of the mouse, for instance, you can display this window and change the settings.
Other Features Offset Display Feature The DV-7DL PRO normally displays the time of the top frame of a sequence as zero (00:00:00:00). Using the Offset Display feature lets you specify a location in the middle of a sequence as the new zero point. When you are using a color bar or black material before the beginning of a sequence, setting the start time of the sequence to zero gives you precise control over the sequence’s actual length.
Other Features Loop Play Feature With the DV-7DL PRO, you can loop (repeat) playback of a sequence. To do this, select “Loop Playback” (making a check mark appear). Playback repeats until you click the “Stop” button. Selecting “Loop Playback” again clears the check mark.
Remote Video Output The following settings enable the DV-7DL PRO to send MTC and MMC signals to the multi-track recorder. For information about the settings for the receiving of MIDI on your VS series device, refer to the owner’s manual for the corresponding model.
Page 349
In the displayed setting window, click “MTC (Master)” and “MMC” to select them (making check marks appear).
