EDKS-1GEA-PBSG Camera Kill Switch Instructions
The EDKS-1GEA-PBSG is a device designed to interrupt or enable power to a PoE++ IP device. The EDKS-1GEA-PBSG
is placed in-line with the IP device's CAT5/6 cable. It is typically used to enable/disable IP cameras for privacy and
confidentiality purposes. Applications include interview rooms, Interrogation rooms, hospital rooms and patient exam
rooms. The EDKS-1GEA-PBSG operates off PoE power and requires no additional power source to operate.
Mounting
The EDKS-1GEA-PBSG is typically mounted on a wall near the IP camera but can be located any place between the camera and the
network switch. The EDKS-1GEA-PBSG fits into any single gang deep electrical box
CAT6 connections
The EDKS-1GEA-PBSG is placed in-line with the CAT6 connection that normally connects to your IP camera. Two standard CAT6
Ethernet cables are required.
Mode Switch
The
supports Both Modes A and B of IEEE802.3af POE. The

pre-configured for the most common use of the "end point" POE IEEE802.3af standard (mode A). If the LED does not
illuminate when the switch is operated, try the mode B position (mid span).
Option switches
M/T switch: The EDKS can be set for toggle or momentary (timed) operation. In toggle mode, each time the button is
pressed, the PoE device will be enabled if it was enabled and disabled if it was enabled. In momentary (timed) mode, the
EDKS can be set to enable or disable a PoE device anywhere between 1 minute and 24hrs . M (momentary) = down
position, T (toggle) = up position.
E/D switch: the EDKS can be set to enable a PoE device or disable a PoE device. In Toggle mode, the switch has no
observable effect on the PoE device but does interact with the LED switch setting. In momentary (timed) mode, when the
button is pressed and the timing cycle begins, the device will be enabled or disabled. Down = device enabled during timed
operation and up = device disabled during timed operation.
M/H switch: This is the range switch for the momentary (timed) operation function. Down = 1-240 minutes, Up = 1-24
hours.
LED switch: This switch sets the way the LED lights. In momentary (timed) mode, if you want the LED to light when the
PoE device is enabled, you set in the down position. If you want the LED to light when the PoE device is disabled, place
the switch in the up position. Note- in toggle mode this switch interacts with the E/D switch so you'll need to place this
switch in whichever position gets you the LED lighting result you desire.
Beeper switch: If you don't want the beeper function to operate, place this switch in the upper position and if you want
the beeper to operate, leave it in the down position.
Reset pushbutton
If you make any option switch setting changes while the EDKS-1GEA-PBSG is powered up, you must press this button to
make sure the changes take effect.
Timed operation adjustment
Adjust this control using a small bladed screwdriver. The adjustment range is 1-240 minutes or 1-24 hours. You must set
the range via the M/H switch described earlier.
