Installation and User Guide | idSET-OTM Sensor 3/19 General information about the manual This manual is an integral part of the product. Please read the manual before using the product. Keep the manual available for the entire duration of the product’s life span.
Intended use The idSET-OTM Sensor is intended to be used in oil separators to indicate the thickness of the oil layer accumulated on the separator. The sensor can be situated in zone 0 explosive atmospheres, but the attached to it central unit must be placed in a safe area.
Installation and User Guide | idSET-OTM Sensor 5/19 Transport and storage Check the packaging and its content for any possible damage. Ensure that you have received all the ordered products and that they are as intended. Keep the original package. Always store and transport the device in the original packaging.
Installation and User Guide | idSET-OTM Sensor 6/19 Product description Product operation The idSET-OTM Sensor utilises capacitive measurement and can be connected to Labkotec Oy’s idSET-OTM central units. The sensor provides the central unit with information on the oil layer accumulated on the oil separator.
Installation General installation instructions idSET-OTM Sensors can be installed in zone 0 explosive atmospheres. Do not remove the sensor markings from the cable or sensor frame. After emptying, the sensor must always be filled with water at least up to the lower electrode to eliminate the possibility of a potential difference between the sensor and the environment.
The sensor can measure oil layers up to 400 mm, when the oil density is between 765… 900 kg/m^3. The alarm engagement point can be determined with the idSET-OTM control unit. The sensor provides a notification if the separator’s total surface level is outside the measurement range (e.g.

You should also check the operation every time the separator is emptied or at least once every six months. Checking the functioning of the idSET-OTM with the idSET-OTM control unit Functional test: The operation of the sensor can be checked by lifting it in the air, and the central unit will sound an alarm.
Due to static charge, the paper or cloth must be moist and you should also avoid rubbing motions. To facilitate cleaning of the idSET-OTM Sensor, the counter electrode can be removed by loosening the three screws at the top.
The measuring device must be Exi classified if the sensor is in an explosive area. Remember to set the idSET-OTM control unit in maintenance mode so that the alarms during the maintenance measures are recorded in the inspection log instead of the alarm log. For detailed instructions on how to set the device in maintenance mode, please refer to the central unit’s...
