ISOLATED DC/DC CONVERTER
ACTIVE VEHICLE CRADLE
+12VDC
ELECTRIC VEHICLE
ISOLATED DC/DC
CONVERTER
• This product is suitable for 36-75V DC with negative grounding.
• These are general instructions, there are no speci c instructions to connect the
DC/DC Converter to the power source. Only a professional knowledgeable installer
should perform this installation.
• Always check if the voltage of the power source is within the requirements of the DC/DC Converter.
• Always disconnect the battery before installing the DC/DC Converter.
• Do not connect incompatible products.
• Ensure that the normal control and operation of the vehicle is not obstructed by the installation.
• Electronic systems are relatively immune to malfunction caused by this product.
If you experience false operation or are in doubt as to their functionality,
please consult your installer/dealer.
Installation overview
1. Determine the location of the vehicle cradle and DC/DC Converter keeping cable lengths in mind.
2. Mount the DC/DC Converter.
3. Route and secure the DC/DC Converter power cable.
4. Connect the DC/DC Converter power cable to the power source.
5. Connect the CarComm Active Vehicle Cradle.
Mounting the DC/DC Converter
• Mount the DC/DC Converter on a sturdy at surface (chassis). Chassis can also act as a heatsink.
• DC/DC Converter can get warm after prolonged use, always keep the housing clear of cables etc.
• Do not place DC/DC Converter directly in sunlight or nearby a heatsource.
• For lift vehicles operating in regions mandating CE Mark certi cation and possessing a connection
between the battery negative and the forklift chassis, supplementary installation procedures are
necessary. To verify this requirement, please refer to the respective lift manufacturer's guidelines
for maintaining electrical isolation between the DC/DC Converter and the chassis upholds
compliance with CE regulations.
In the event of a fault condition, such as a wire shorting to the forklift chassis, an alternative
power path may arise, potentially causing adverse e ects on the DC/DC Converter, the connected
handheld device, and any devices connected to the shorted wire. While this is an infrequent
secondary failure mode, the risk can be mitigated by implementing an electrical isolation mount.
An isolated mount is not available and isolation has to be achieved by using rubber washers/plastic
washers for example.
Connecting cables
• Always secure cables and make sure they cannot get pinched or damaged by moving parts.
• Always use a 5A fuse (included) to connect the DC/DC Converter to the vehicle's power source.
• It is recommended to connect the power cable as close to the battery as possible but not directly
to the battery. Do not connect the power cable (close) to points where engines, pumps and
regenerative braking systems are connected to minimize power spikes. Connect the power cable
to, for example, a power distribution panel.
• If possible, connect the DC/DC Converter to a switched power source like an ignition switch
(36-75V DC).
• It is recommended to connect the negative lead to a point which is used/shared by other
accessories.
