HANDLING INSTALLATION AND MAINTENANCE OF EQUIPMENT
This product is NOT intended for service with LIQUID OXYGEN
The product packaged with this sheet has been specially cleaned so that all internal parts are compatible with
oxygen. DO NOT CONTAMINATE. The instructions and warning contained on this sheet supersede any and all conflicting
statements on any accompanying sheet, which may describe products for service other than oxygen.
The special cleaning of this product has removed carbonaceous contaminants, which could react with oxygen. The
materials of construction in this product are rated compatible with oxygen. However, the Proportion–Air Co. makes no
claims concerning the capability of this product to function in a normal manner and/ or to contain the oxygen supply should
a chemical reaction occur at any point in the oxygen system. Due to the extremely high temperature which can result in
oxygen combustion, the overall design of the system in which the product is to be installed must anticipate functional and/or
structural failures of this product if it should be exposed to a chemical reaction involving oxygen.
HANDLING & INSTALLATION PRECAUTIONS:
Do not unpack until ready to install unit.
Do not remove regulator assembly from plastic bag until ready to install.
This product has been specially processed to remove oil, grease, or other carbonaceous materials. Precautions must
be taken during subsequent handling and installation not to contaminate with any oil, grease, or other carbonaceous
materials. Failure to comply with these precautions could result in fire or explosion.
Only pipe thread sealant compatible with oxygen service may be used. Armite Laboratories Oxygen Seal
Compound No. 882, or equivalent, or clean Teflon pipe thread tape are acceptable as pipe thread sealant.
Pressure gauges used must be acceptable for oxygen service.
MAINTENANCE PRECAUTIONS:
All maintenance operations (disassembly, repair, cleaning, reassembly) must be conducted in a clean environment
to avoid contamination with oil, grease, or other carbonaceous materials and must be done by personnel properly trained in
contamination control procedures for oxygen service. Use only compatible lubricants (see last paragraph below).
Repair kits or replacement parts must be cleaned for oxygen service and must be of materials, which are
rated for oxygen service.
When ordering, give complete product number of unit being repaired, part or kit number desired, and also specify
'CLEANED FOR OXYGEN SERVICE.'
Installation of an oxygen – cleaned repair kit in a unit, which has not been previously prepared and maintained for
oxygen service, does not prepare such a unit for oxygen service.
Lubricant compatible for oxygen service must be substituted for those identified in any accompanying instruction
sheet. Armite Laboratories Oxygen Seal Compound No. 882, or equivalent, is acceptable where an anti-seize compound is
required. Halocarbon 25-5s grease (Halocarbon Products Corp.), or equivalent, is acceptable as a general purpose lubricant
for such components as elastomers and adjusting screws.
