FastImage 1300 is a full-length PCI board. It is an autonomous imaging system, which can process up to four continuous video streams with minimal impact on the host system. Figure 1. FastImage 1300 Alacron manuals available for FastImage 1300: • 30002-00176 FastImage 1300 Hardware User’s Manual...
The FastMem is a PMC memory daughter card module that can extend the SDRAM capacity of an ALACRON FastImage 1300 or FastFrame 1300 board by 128, 256, 384, or 512 MB. The FastMem allows several processors to have access to one central data space for large images and other multi-processor applications.
The Fast4 1300 is a PMC daughter card module that can extend the processing power of an ALACRON FastSeries by adding up to eight additional TriMedia TM1300 processors on the FastImage 1300 and adding up to four additional TriMedia TM1300 processors on the FastFrame 1300.
G. Other Available Alacron FastSeries Manuals Alacron manuals cover all aspects of FastSeries hardware and software installation and operation. Call Alacron at 603-891-2750 and ask for the appropriate manuals from the list below if they did not come in your FastSeries shipment.
ALRT/ALFAST software is available for Linux, Solaris™, and Windows™ NT and Windows™ 2000 operating systems. • Air circulation of at least 200 LFM is required for all Fast Series boards. • The operating temperature range of the Fast Series boards is 0° Celsius to 50°...
If any item is missing or damaged, see “Returning Products section VI. • Save the shipping carton and packing materials in case you need to store or ship your ALACRON board. • Save the anti-static protective bag and store the board inside the bag when the board is not in use.

Put the screws safely aside to use again later. If you need to remove an old board before installing the new ALACRON board, be careful not to damage the PCI slot. Unscrew and pull out the board that corresponds to the PCI slot you will use for the new board.
Incorrect connection can result in permanent damage to the FastSeries boards, the motherboard, or the computer. Incorrectly applied power will void your Alacron warranty. 1. Installing the 3.3V for FastImage 1300 or FastFrame 1300 The FastMem daughter card provides extra memory to the FastImage 1300 board. It requires an external source of 3.3V DC power.
Plug the large white P2 to the DC power cable coming out from the power supply. This connection can only be made in one direction; so do not force the connection. The small black P1end of the power cable is now ready to plug into the FastMem board.
Firmly seat the PMC board into the PMC connectors on the back of either board. When in place, the mezzanine cards will run parallel to the length of the host board, sandwiched alongside. Turn the expansion board with PMCs attached over. Install the four (4) screws that came in the PMC shipment through the expansion board and into the plastic stand-offs already installed on the PMCs.
PC System. 1. DC Power connection for the FastImage 1300 You received two (2) Alacron P/N 10024-00160 DC Power Cables in your FastImage 1300 board shipment. If you have installed one PMC on the host board, you will use one (1) of those power cables.
FastMem), See section B for more instructions, and repeat step b. 2. DC Power connection for the FastFrame 1300 You received one Alacron P/N 10024-00160 DC Power Cable in your FastFrame 1300 board shipment. The DC Power cable is labeled P1 on the larger black end and P2 on the larger white end.
If the host board is not installed in an ATX-style PC, Contact Alacron for Technical Assistance. See “Alacron Technical Support” Section VII. If your Alacron Fast 4 1300, Fast I/O 1300 or FastMem PMC is to be installed on another manufacturer’s host board, you must use the Alacron internal power cable P/N 10024- 00191 (3.3V) or P/N 10024-00192 (5V) which was shipped with your PMC board.
After the system has been running for about two hours, check to see if it’s overheating, or is uncomfortably hot to the touch. If it is, you need more air circulation If the PC system does not boot up, contact Alacron for Technical Assistance. See “Alacron Technical Support”.
