Setup Instructions
1. Download the Starlink App
● Action: Download the Starlink app on your smartphone from the App Store (iOS) or
Google Play (Android).
● Purpose: This app is essential for system setup, monitoring, and performance
testing.
2. Choose the Position of the Starlink Dish
● Recommended Location:
as this is typically the flattest part of the roof providing optimum magnetic adhesion.
● Surface Requirements:
○ Flat Surface: The mounting area must be as flat as possible to ensure all
four (4) magnets make full contact.
○ Clear Field of View: Ensure a 110° unobstructed view of the sky—avoid
positioning close to roof racks or ladders.
3. Prepare the Mounting Surface
● Critical Step:
○ Clean the roof surface and magnetic mounting pads thoroughly.
○ Use a non-abrasive cleaner to remove any dirt, dust, or debris.
● Why It Matters:
○ A clean, flat surface is essential for proper magnetic adhesion.
○ Improper cleaning or uneven surfaces may result in inadequate magnet
contact and can lead to dislodgement during operation.
4. Secure the Magnetic Mount
● Action: Place the Starlink dish in the chosen area.
● Check:
○ Ensure all four magnets are in full contact with the prepared surface.
● Importance:
○ Full magnet contact is critical for ensuring the dish remains securely
mounted while the vehicle is in motion.
○ Inadequate contact could result in the dish detaching.
5. Connect the Power Cable
● Action: Plug the power cable into the rear of the mounting enclosure.
● Tip:
○ Use the small integrated magnet on the cable to secure it to the roof, toward
the entry point (e.g., the door edge) into the vehicle cabin.
