    A Transition refers to any method of changing from one still to • another, using the Deko100’s internal mix/wipe engine. • A Source refers to a video signal that is applied to the Deko100’s video input. • The terms Composite and Key are both used to describe the effect of electronically cutting one image into another.

    When you need to handle the internal mechanisms inside your PC, ground yourself to the PC’s chassis first. • When you handle and install the Deko100 Boardset, hold the board by its edges—do not touch the chips. • Do not flex the Deko100 Boardset.

    • Power Requirements The Deko100 Board uses the same power source as your PC. As a general rule for PC operations (and to protect the Deko100 Board’s electronics), care must be taken to avoid power lines that are subject to noise and voltage spikes.

    GPI (General Purpose Interface) is a method by which electronic “pulses” from one device are used to trigger functions on another device. The Deko100 allows a variety of system functions to be controlled via GPI. The GPI Connector on the Mounting Bracket includes pins for four GPI input lines.

    Power Up/Down Procedure To power up the Deko100 system: Ensure that all peripheral equipment is powered on, including the SVGA monitor. Press the Power switch on yoiur PC’s chassis. The system boots up and prompts you to log on to Windows NT.

    • System Files and User Files Software Description The Deko100 system runs in the Windows NT environment, version 4.0 or higher. All operating system software must be installed prior to Deko100 installation. Additionally, NT Installation must include Microsoft Service Pack 3 for NT, for proper operation.

    Installing Deko100 Software To install Deko100 software: Power up your PC and start Windows NT. Insert the Deko100 Installation CD in your CD ROM drive. Deko100 software installs automatically. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the setup process. Once installation is complete, an on-screen message prompts you to restart your system before running Deko100.

    From the Options menu, choose Hardware Settings. Click PAL video standard to check (for PAL) or uncheck (for NTSC). Restart Deko100 for the video standard change to take effect. To change the aspect ratio: 1. From the Options menu, choose Hardware Settings.

    Analog I/O Adjustments—Setup Analog Video The Setup Analog Video–IO Status dialog box is divided into five sections, described below. The Deko100 is a single channel device, but uses the same adjustment software used with the Pinnacle System’s multi-channel devices. That is why you see the provision for multiple channels.

    Status Status Status Status Displays the input’s status. Deko100 will have at most one analog input. One of three labels will be shown: • Not Present indicates that no analog board is installed, or that the input is assigned as digital.

    • Adjust Output Gain and Level Before Adjusting Output To prepare Deko100 for video output adjustment: Select Color Bars from the Channel menu to call up the color bars into the Program window. Verify that the color bar graphic appears on your output monitor.

    Ensure that an Analog Video Monitor, Waveform Monitor and Vectorscope are properly connected in your video path, allowing you to monitor Deko100’s output during the timing procedure. In the Analog Outputs section of the Setup Analog Video IO dialog box, select the output that you wish to adjust, as described above.

    You must properly calibrate the video output circuitry before adjusting analog input. To prepare for configuring analog intput: Start Deko100 and clear the Program Window with Edit/Clear All. Turn on the internal keyer with Channel/Keyer On. Verify that the input signal appears on your output monitor.

    Select the input as described in the previous section. Adjust the timing scroll bars to match the input source’s timing to Deko100. Remember, you can always click Use Defaults to return the input to its default (factory set) values. Click Close to exit the dialog box and save all changes, or click Esc to exit the dialog box without saving changes.
