IMPORTANT SAFETY AND HANDLING INFORMATION

Read the following warning before you or your child play with BOLT+. Failing to do so may cause injury.

Health Considerations

To reduce the risk of damage or injury, do not attempt to remove the BOLT+ shell or internal components from BOLT+ Power Pack; refer all non-routine servicing questions to Sphero, Inc. ("Sphero"). No user-serviceable parts are inside the BOLT+ Power Pack.

General
Read all safety and operating instructions before operating BOLT+ and the BOLT+ Power Pack.

• Retain the safety and operating instructions for future reference.
• Follow all operating and use instructions.
• Do not attempt to service BOLT+ or BOLT+ Power Pack yourself. Refer all non-routine servicing to Sphero.

Seizure, Blackouts and Eyestrain
A small percentage of people may be susceptible to blackouts or seizures (even if they have never had one before) when exposed to flashing lights or light patterns such as when playing games or watching video. If you have experienced seizures or blackouts or have a family history of such occurrences, you should consult a physician before playing games or watching videos. Discontinue use of BOLT+ and your smart device controller and consult a physician if you experience headaches, blackouts, seizures, convulsion, eye or muscle twitching, loss of awareness, involuntary movement, or disorientation. To reduce risk of headaches, blackouts, seizures, and eyestrain, avoid prolonged use, hold your smart device controller some distance from your eyes, use BOLT+ in a well-lit room, and take frequent breaks.

Choking Hazards
BOLT+ and BOLT+ Power Pack have small internal components that may present a choking hazard to small children and pets. Keep BOLT+, BOLT+ Power Pack, and any accessories away from small children.

Keeping BOLT+ Power Pack Within Acceptable Temperatures
Operate and store BOLT+ and BOLT+ Power Pack in a place where the temperature is between 0º C - 35º C (32º F - 95º F). Low or high-temperature conditions might temporarily shorten battery life of BOLT+ or cause BOLT+ Power Pack to temporarily stop working. Avoid dramatic changes in temperature or humidity when using BOLT+, as condensation may form on or within BOLT+. When you're using BOLT+ Power Pack for charging, it is normal for BOLT+ to get warm. Maintain clearance around the BOLT+ Power Pack case when in use to ensure proper airflow for temperature regulation. If the temperature limit of BOLT+ Power Pack is exceeded, the charging of the BOLT+ robots will pause and the charging status light on BOLT+ Power Pack will turn red.

Use and Maintenance

BOLT+ is not suitable for use by children under 8 years of age. BOLT+ Power Pack must be operated by adults only.

Never:

• Abuse, throw, drop, puncture, violently kick, or step on BOLT+ or BOLT+ Power Pack. This can damage the robot and/or the charging system and compromise safe operation.
• Operate BOLT+ or BOLT+ Power Pack in dangerous, hazardous, or public areas where use is not permitted (high voltage power lines, train stations, airports, trains, etc.). Check whether use of BOLT+ is permitted before using it in public areas or public transport.
• Use the Sphero supplied charger or USB cord to charge any device other than Sphero BOLT+.

Always:

• Keep BOLT+ in sight during operation to avoid injuries or damages to people, animals, or property. Keep a safe distance between the robot and people, animals, and property.
• Periodically examine BOLT+ and BOLT+ Power Pack and its contents for potential hazards such as cracked, damaged, or otherwise broken parts. In the event of such damage, do not use BOLT+ or BOLT+ Power Pack until it can be replaced or repaired.
• Operate BOLT+ Power Pack in the horizontal position to ensure proper charging of the BOLT+ robots.

Battery Warning

• Each BOLT+ contains a single cell 3.7V 1.25Ah lithium polymer rechargeable battery that is charged by use of the BOLT+ Power Pack. Do not attempt to charge BOLT+ batteries with any charger other than the BOLT+ charging cradle and BOLT+ Power Pack.
• The lithium polymer batteries in the BOLT+ are extremely hazardous and liable to cause serious injuries to persons or property. The user accepts liability for the use of a lithium polymer battery. As the manufacturer and the distributor cannot ensure the battery is used correctly (charging, discharging, storage, etc.), neither can be held liable for damages caused to persons or property by improperly used batteries.
• In the event of battery leakage, avoid the liquid coming into contact with skin and eyes. In case of contact with the skin, wash copiously with soap and water. In case of contact with the eyes, rinse copiously with cold water and consult a doctor. If you notice a suspicious smell or noise, or observe smoke around the charger, disconnect it immediately.
• Non-compliance with the instructions below could result in gas being given off, fire, electric shock, or an explosion.

Charging

• Examine the BOLT+ Power Pack regularly for damage to the cord, plug, enclosure, or other parts. Never use a damaged BOLT cradle charger or power adapter. Use only the supplied power adapter rated at 12VDC >5A for BOLT+ Power Pack. Misuse can cause electrical shock or cause the BOLT+ Power Pack to seize operation.
• Never charge a leaky battery or one that has been damaged. Do not use the BOLT+ Power Pack or any of the BOLT+ charging cradles to charge any other battery or product than BOLT+. Never attempt to recharge a non-rechargeable battery.
• Do not charge near flammable materials or on a flammable surface (carpet, wooden flooring, wooden furniture, etc.) or conductive surface (metal table, metal shelf, etc.). Do not leave BOLT+ Power Pack unattended during charging.
• Never charge BOLT+ immediately after use while it is still hot. Let it cool down to room temperature before charging in the BOLT+ Power Pack.
• Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
• BOLT+ is only to be charged under adult supervision. BOLT+ Power Pack should only be operated by an adult.
• Do not cover BOLT+ Power Pack during charging as airflow to the cooling fans may be compromised. Operate BOLT+ Power Pack in an ambient temperature between 0ºC - 35ºC (32ºF - 95ºF).
• If BOLT+ Power Pack temperature exceeds its charging operation limit, the charging cycle will pause and the BOLT+ Power Pack status light will turn red. Keep the unit plugged in with the fans running until the status light turns green and the charging cycle automatically begins. There is no reset necessary for BOLT+ Power Pack after an overtemperature condition has been reached.

Use and storage

• Do not use BOLT+ if its shell has been broken and the battery's plastic cover has been cracked or compromised in any way.
• Do not expose the BOLT+ battery to excessive physical shock.
• Do not expose BOLT+ and its battery to heat or dispose of it in a fire.
• Do not put the battery in a microwave oven or in a pressurized container.
• Do not attempt to dismantle, pierce, distort, or cut the battery and do not attempt to repair the battery. Do not place any heavy objects on or in the BOLT+ Power Pack or BOLT+.
• Do not clean the BOLT+ Power Pack with a solvent, denatured alcohol, or other inflammable solvents. When cleaning, be sure to unplug the power adapter and charger.
• Keep the BOLT+ Power Pack turned off and unplugged when not in use.
• The appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
