USER INFORMATION SHEET
HOTGRIPS WRAP OVERGRIPS
WARNINGS
• Oxford HotGrips Wrap Overgrips must only be connected and turned on when fitted to your motorcycle grips per the instructions.
• Do not switch on until the HotGrips Wrap Overgrips are correctly fitted onto your handlebar grips.
• Ensure that the HotGrips Wrap Overgrips are firmly attached and do not move independently of your motorcycle grips before using the
machine.
• Ensure that the throttle operates freely.
• No attempt should be made to alter the length of the HotGrips Wrap Overgrips' wiring loom.
• Regularly check the integrity of the attachment and materials of your HotGrips Wrap Overgrips. Do not use if in doubt and consult your local
authorised Oxford stockist.
• Oxford Products will accept no liability for the consequences of HotGrips Wrap Overgrips which have not been securely fastened and
maintained.
• OXFORD HotGrips Wrap Overgrips are designed for use with leather-palmed winter motorcycle gloves. The use of lightweight gloves or no
gloves at all puts the user at severe risk of burns to their hands.
• Once fitted, OXFORD HotGrips Wrap Overgrips are designed to keep appropriately gloved hands at a comfortably warm temperature. Small
changes to the ambient temperature will affect the temperature of the HotGrips Wrap Overgrips and it is necessary to adjust the power
setting accordingly.
• For simplicity and reliability, there are 2 power settings: LOW and HIGH.
- In the LOW position the power is restricted to 25% and is suitable for normal use.
- In the HIGH position the power is at 100% and would be used for very brief periods to get heat into the grips fast OR in conditions of
extreme cold.
- Except in condition of extreme cold, do not leave on HIGH continuously, as the grips will become too hot and the user's hands may overheat.
- Whenever the motorcycle is static for more than a minute or if the grips become too hot when in use, please ensure the heat controller is
turned to the LOW position.
- Oxford Products Ltd cannot accept any liability for the inappropriate choice of temperature.
• If connected directly to the battery, please ensure that you remember to switch off the HotGrips Wrap Overgrips before leaving the vehicle.
The LED light should remind you that it is switched on.
• Oxford Products cannot accept any responsibility for flattened batteries or over-heated grips.
FITTING AND WIRING INSTRUCTIONS
Oxford HotGrips Wrap Overgrips consist of two heated overgrips which are designed to fit over most rubber motorcycle grips mounted on
22mm handlebars, using a secure hook-and-loop attachment.
• Wrap the HotGrips Wrap Overgrips over the existing handlebar grips with the neoprene rubber side facing the grip.
• Ensure that the full upper hook-and-loop patch secures onto the opposite lower patch and that the over-grip fits very tightly and securely
onto the rubber grip. The over-grip must NOT be able to slide along or move independently of the grip.
• Position the overgrips such that the wires do not foul against the brake or clutch levers. The throttle grip should rotate freely without
obstruction and without stretching or pinching the wires.
• The wiring harness should be installed with the switch already in position, to ensure that the wires from the grips can reach without strain.
Cable ties are provided to secure loose wires.
• The switch may be mounted in one of three ways:
- On a flat panel using self-tapping screws or the adhesive-backed foam pad which is supplied in the kit (see below).
- Onto tubular handlebars by passing the cable ties provided through the pre-made holes in the switch and around the handlebar.
- Using the metal bracket supplied, which fits onto the clutch clamp bolts.
• The switch contains an LED, which glows when the HotGrips Wrap Overgrips are turned
on.
• The loom is designed for ease of fitting. There are only 2 wires that need attaching to
the motorcycle's existing wiring loom. All other connections are through the waterproof
connectors and cannot be fitted the wrong way.
• The feed (red wire) can be connected either to the battery positive or to an ignition feed
so that the grips cannot be inadvertently left on when leaving the machine.
• The negative (black wire) should be connected to either the negative battery terminal or
to a negative connection in the motorcycle's wiring loom.
• Both the negative and the positive connections are fitted with a ring leads. This will allow
them to be bolted to the battery terminals. If you have chosen to use an ignition feed, the
positive wire should not be trimmed by more than 25mm.
