    Taking Apart the Hoop Frame Note: If your original frame is the 8-Foot or 10-Foot Evolution Elite-Frame, then these instructions don’t apply to you. Go to “Preparing to Upgrade An Elite-Frame” on page 82 for the first set of instructions you need. Taking Apart the Hoop Frame To complete your upgrade from the Evolution Hoop-Frame to an Evolution Elite-Frame, first you must partially take apart the hoop frame.

    Taking Apart the Hoop Frame Part Reference Tables Instructions These tables are for your reference. They list all the parts from your hoop frame, and explain what to do with those parts. However, as you follow the instructions in this section, you will also be told what parts to set aside to use later, so if these tables feel unhelpful, you don’t have to use them.

    Taking Apart the Hoop Frame Task 1 - Removing All Quilting Components Instructions Before you can install the upgrades to the Evolution Hoop-Frame, you must take apart some of the frame. Before you do that, you need to remove all quilting components from the frame. Note: Once you finish the upgrade, your frame will be set up permanently as a rolling frame.

Right Take-Up Rail Holder Lift the take-up rail up and out of the holders. (If you want, you can close the rail holder when you’re finished.)     Taking Apart the Hoop Frame Task 3 - Removing the Machine Instructions The next thing to do is remove your machine and bottom carriage from the frame so they are out of the way during the upgrade. Take the following steps to complete this task: With help from a friend, remove your machine and top plate (if applicable) from the frame.

    Taking Apart the Hoop Frame Task 4 - Preparing the Front Rail Parts & Tools Needed Allen Wrench 2.5 mm (with orig frame) Instructions Now you need to remove and prepare the front rail for use in the upgrade. Take the following steps to complete this task: Use the 2.5 mm Allen wrench to remove the two M4 x 12 mm SBHCS from the bottom of the right front rail holder and then lift the top of the holder.
  • Page 24 Taking Apart the Hoop Frame Task 4 - Preparing the Front Rail (continued) Pry the press-in cap out of the smaller end of the rail. Set both the rail and the cap aside. You’ll use them later. Press-In Task Result: The front rail is removed from the frame and prepared for the upgrade.

    Taking Apart the Hoop Frame ***Shift+Ctrl+Click to add Task Name*** Task 5 - Removing the Side Rails & Rail Holders Parts & Tools Needed Allen Wrench 5 mm (with orig frame) Instructions Next, you need to remove the side rails and the take-up rail holders from the frame. With the Elite-Frame setup, you will be using a third rail, so you will install a different set of rail holders later, as well as a slightly different set of take-up rail holders.

You’ll use it later. 3-Wing Knob Take-Up Rail Holder Use the 5 mm Allen wrench to remove the two M8 x 16 mm SBHCS that secure the take-up rail holder to the frame, and then remove the rail holder.

    Taking Apart the Hoop Frame Task 6 - Removing the Tracks Parts & Tools Needed T-handle Allen Wrench Allen Wrench 3 mm 4 mm (with orig frame) (Box 4, Hardware) Instructions Next, you need to remove the tracks from the frame. As part of making the frame longer, you’ll be adding more tracks later.

You’ll be setting the table assembly on the table instead of the leg at the end of the next step. Table Assembly CAUTION: Do this step with the table prepared for you to set the table assembly on as soon as the leg is detached.
