HC-01
Description:
The Boomerang HC-01 is a quad core single board computer with a SIM card
loaded with the latest Clear Sky Institute HamClock release. This unit provides
Ethernet and Wifi connectivity as well as a wireless keyboard and mouse and
an HDMI connection all in a very small package. The HC-01 processor has plenty of power
to efficiently run the HamClock software while keeping the process at a low and acceptable
temperature. This unit runs cool and is very power efficient. Its case is made out ABS and is about 2.5" x 2.5" x 1"
Getting started:
Connect a standard USB mouse and the HDMI cable to the HC-01, Connect the HamClock to your network using
the Ethernet cable (preferred over Wi-Fi ). Turn the monitor ON, connect the USB C power adapter to an outlet
and then to the HamCLock. The unit may take up to 1 minute to bootup. During this process the CQRadios logo
will be displayed a couple of times.
Once the unit boots up, the HamClock software will start automatically and you can use the mouse to configure
the HamClock software with the virtual keyboard that will be displayed on the screen. The Hamclock software
provide a virtual keyboard for configuration, use the mouse to press the keyboard keys and configure the
HamClock. It is possible to use a USB hub to connect and use an external keyboard and mouse.
See the HamClock user manual for more details on the configuration process.
It is also possible to connect to the ham clock using a web browser: http://192.xxx.xxx.xxx:8081/live.html
Replace 192.xxx.xxx.xxx with your hamclock IP address that you can find from your router.
Wifi configuration (Optional if Ethernet is used):
To configure the Wi-Fi, you need to first exit the HamClock Software which can be done by clicking on the pad lock
and selecting Exit. Please see the user manual for more details.
- Click on the network icon in the upper right corner of the screen
- Turn Wi-Fi ON if needed then select the desired Wi-Fi and input the password
To restart the HamClock software, click on the raspberry icon in the upper left corner of the screen Run and select
HamClock (or Other depending on the version) then click on HamClock. This will restart the HamClock software.
Ethernet connection:
Connect the Ethernet cable to the Hamclock HC-01 RJ45 connector and then to the network router.
Ethernet network connection is preferred over Wifi and will provide a faster and more reliable connection.
Keyboard / mouse connection:
Connect the provided wireless keyboard/mouse USB dongle to the HC-01. The dongle is in the back battery
compartment of the mini keyboard. Make sure the keyboard has the needed batteries installed.
Turn the keyboard ON using the toggle switch and/or ON/OFF button, please see keyboard manual provided with
the keyboard
Some USB hubs are supported by the HC-01 and could be used to connect a standard keyboard and mouse if
needed.
HDMI connection:
Connect the Micro HDMI connector to the Hamclock and the other side to the display. Make sure the display is
turned ON before powering up the HC-01.
