INSTRUCTIONS Superwinch H9W 4234 Modification Procedure Introduction NRG has found that under certain loading conditions the winch base plate can become permanently distorted. NRG has determined that this is not a safety issue, but a distorted baseplate should be replaced to avoid any potential accelerated wear on the winch. NRG has developed a modification to the winch that prevents this permanent distortion of the winch base plate. See below for installation instructions for this modification. Modification Kit Components: 1 11.875x2x3 Steel Square Tube 4 M8x45mm Grade 12 Socket Head Cap Screws 1 6mm Allen Wrench Installation Procedure: 1) Place the winch on its side on a sturdy level surface as shown below. 2) Loosen the four bolts on the bottom of the base plate. INSTRUCTIONS 3) Loosen and remove the two bars on the back of the winch with the allen wrench provided. Save the spacers and the lock washers. They will be needed for the modification. 4) Install the 2x3 square tube using the provided socket cap screws. Place the lock washers so that they are between the inside of the square tube and the head of the socket cap screw. Place the spacer between the square tube and the threaded holes on the winch housing.
