SOURCES OF GAS ESCAPE The most likely origin for an escape in domestic premises is the appliances and the connections between appliances and the fixed installation in the buildings. Appliances are the more common origin of escapes because they may be moved and suffer damage. Another cause of gas release, especially if cookers or boilers without flame failure control are in use, is the extinction of the flame, or its non-ignition, whether by spilling of liquid, or draughts.
It will provide warning of a gas condition when 9% of the LEL for methane is detected. This early warning is possible, however, only if PREVENT [m] gas detector is located, installed and maintained as described in this user’s guide.
