We hope you enjoy your Atomic DayClock! Atomic Synchronization for Accuracy This DayClock is an “Atomic” or “Radio Controlled” clock that synchronizes with the WWVB radio signal broadcast by the US National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in Fort Collins, Colorado. The signal provides the time, day and date and generally has excellent coverage over the entire country. Once set up with the appropriate time zone and Daylight Savings Time, the Atomic DayClock will stay current and automatically adjust until the batteries run down. Low Power, Soft Display The LCD display is low power by design so it does not need to be plugged into a wall outlet. This means the day and date are generally readable at no more than 6-10 feet. The intention is to make the Atomic DayClock unobtrusive, not overly bright and distracting, particularly for bedroom use. For a brighter display, please see our Digital DayClock on our website. When pressed, the Snooze/Light button on the top of the clock provides a 5 second backlight. The hour and minutes hands glow softly in the dark.

Atomic DayClock Setup 1) Determine where you want to place the clock, at least four feet away from electromagnetic interference (e.g. a computer or television). For tabletop, use the two fold-out arms. For wall mounting, use the keyhole. 2) Insert 3 AA batteries (not included) and place the clock on a counter or table. Be sure to align the batteries with the negative terminals against the springs. ii. The clock will beep as it powers up and the hands will rotate to noon. This will take about 5 minutes. 3) For another 5-12 minutes, the clock will then work to acquire the broadcast signal. The signal indicator above the weekday will flash until the signal is acquired. After the 12 minutes, if the signal indicator stops flashing and the clock has not adjusted itself, go to the Troubleshooting section. 4) By default, it will set to Pacific Standard Time (PST) with Daylight Savings Time. If these setting are right for you, no further action is required. If you are in any time zone other than Pacific Standard Time OR you are in Arizona or Hawaii, you need to take an additional step once the signal indicator stops flashing: To access the settings, press and hold the SET button for 3 seconds. The SET button navigates between settings, and the + and – buttons adjust the selection for the setting. ¾ If you are in any time zone other than Pacific you will need to select your time zone: Eastern (EST) or Central (CST) or Mountain (MST).

Alarm Function 1) On the right side of the clock, slide the button up from Off to On. The alarm icon will show in the center of the LCD display. 2) Press and hold the ALARM button on the back of the clock for 3 seconds to set the alarm. 3) Use the + and – buttons to set the hour. AM or PM adjusts automatically as you scroll through the hours. 4) Press the ALARM button again to set the minutes with the + and – buttons. Press the ALARM button to finish. 5) When the alarm goes off, either: i. Hit the SNOOZE/LIGHT button on the top of the clock to snooze for 5 minutes; it can be pressed up to 7 times. The snooze icon will display in the upper left above the day. ii. Slide the button on the right side of the clock down from On to Off. If you need to get up at the same time the next day, slide it right back up to On. Manually Setting the Clock This is only necessary if the clock does not receive the radio signal.

Atomic Clock Troubleshooting The radio signal generally has good coverage throughout the U.S. However, if your clock is not receiving the signal (the signal indicator icon is not showing), try these suggestions: 1) If the low battery icon is showing above the weekday, replace the batteries. 2) You can press and hold the + button for 3 seconds to force reception at any time. It may take up to 12 minutes to receive the signal. The signal indicator icon will flash during this period. 3) Just let it sit overnight. The clock checks the signal late at night. If the clock fails to receive the signal on a given night, the signal indicator icon will go off until it syncs the following night. 4) Try repositioning the clock: i. Locate the clock at least four feet away from electrical devices, which can cause interference. Press and hold the + button for 3 seconds. ii. Try rotating the clock 90 degrees, which will rotate the internal antenna. If you are wall mounting, try a wall perpendicular to the one it is currently on (e.g. if it is on a north-south wall try an east-west wall). Press and hold the + button for 3 seconds. If the clock stills does not acquire the signal, you may live in a place that simply cannot get the signal or there is an interference problem. But not to worry, it doesn’t require the radio signal. Just set the clock manually per the instructions and it will work like a regular clock.
