The air spark gaps limit the back EMF that is generated by chokes at the end of a large, fast-falling current pulse. ACOM L-PROT 2000 contains a bandpass filter with excellent RF characteristics in the operating frequency range of 1.8-54 MHz with a steep frequency-response slope in the LW/VLF range and less sloped in the VHF range.

The manufacturer is not liable for another's actions and responsibility shall be assumed by the doer.
Before you install your L-PROT 2000, thoroughly read this manual. First, carefully inspect the cardboard carton and its contents for physical damage. ACOM ships the device in protected container, but it cannot assure that mistreatment by shippers will not occur. If damage is evident, notify your dealer immediately. Delay may void the carrier's warranty.
ACOM L-PROT 2000 is designed for indoor use only! L-PROT 2000 is designed primarily for installation in an electrical cabinet or on the wall, outside the radio shack. It should be installed low at the building foundation, close to the building's lightning protection grounding system.
There are many different wall types or electrical cabinets. Please, look at your preferred store for mounting fasteners and accessories. ACOM does not offer electrical cabinets as an option for the L-PROT 2000. If you need an electrical cabinet, please look at your preferred electrical component store.

The installation procedure described below assumes that you have a functional radio station, i.e. you will be adding the ACOM L-PROT 2000 to an existing radio station. When you have more than one antenna, for example, using four antennas in your radio system, you must add four L-PROT 2000 devices - a single device for each antenna.
