This kit works with any DaVinci or Maestro fireplace with TouchSmart™ controls.
Overview
The heat exchanger is designed to circulate room air
through the fireplace to extract heat from the exhaust
stream and deliver that heat back into the room. The
heat exchanger is installed in line with the venting and
air from a blower is routed through the exchanger and
back into the room through a register.
Install the heat exchanger when venting the appliance.
Make sure all work on ducts is complete and sealed
before installing drywall.

  • Page 4 DaVinci HeatSmart™ Heat Exchanger with Inline Blower Using Oval Pipe in the Blower Duct Run Both rigid and flex ducts can transition to an oval pipe and back to a 6” round duct to fit between framing members or in a stud cavity.
  • Page 5 DaVinci HeatSmart™ Heat Exchanger with Inline Blower Heat Exchanger Clearances Vertical Install • Minimum 3/4” (19mm) clearance is required to the heat exchanger. • The duct (and its connection to the heat exchanger) has a minimum 1/2” (13mm) clearance for the first 5 feet after the heat exchanger.

    DaVinci HeatSmart™ Heat Exchanger with Inline Blower Duct Installation Maximum Duct Length • The maximum duct length is 75’ (22.9M) (inlet and outlet combined length). Using an Inline Power Vent A 10” pipe must be run from the heat exchanger to the power vent when using an inline power vent fan.
  • Page 7 DaVinci HeatSmart™ Heat Exchanger with Inline Blower Duct Routing • The duct has a 1/2” (12.7mm) minimum clearance to combustibles for the first 5’ (1.52m) from the heat exchanger. After the first 5’ (1.52m) the duct has 0” clearance to combustibles.
  • Page 8 DaVinci HeatSmart™ Heat Exchanger with Inline Blower Inline Blower Installation • Mount the blower in the desired location. The blower can be mounted in any orientation. To mount the blower assembly, remove the blower from the mounting bracket. Use a small standard screwdriver to release the clamps that secure the blower to the mounting bracket.

  • Page 10 DaVinci HeatSmart™ Heat Exchanger with Inline Blower • Secure the intake boot to framing with the outer edge flush with the drywall (must be a minimum of 1-1/2” above the finished floor to allow the intake grill to be installed.
  • Page 11 DaVinci HeatSmart™ Heat Exchanger with Inline Blower • Attach the 6” flex to the 8” to 6” reducer. Secure the flex with (3) #8 x 3/8” screws and seal the joint with aluminum tape. • Run the other end of the 6” flex to the inlet of the heat exchanger vent section.

If the blower is left on and the fireplace is turned off, the heat exchanger will turn off as well and will come back on at the last setting when the fireplace is turned back on.
