Thank you for purchasing this Astro-Tech Voyager 2 al-
tazimuth mount with dual-axis slow motion controls. Your
Voyager 2 is one of the most stable, flexible, and precise
mounts available for casual backyard and grab-and-go as-
tronomy. It also works well for terrestrial observing with a
scope, such as for bird watching and scenery scanning.
UNPACKING: Your Voyager 2 ships with the mount
arm and slow motion control assemblies already attached
to the tripod. Illustration #1 below shows the mount in its
shipping carton. An accessory box is packed on top of the
altazimuth head. The slow motion control cables are packed
under the tripod legs.

SETTING THE MOUNT ARM ANGLE: Lift the tripod
out of the carton and set it up by pulling the legs out-
ward. The mount arm and slow motion assemblies are
shown in Illustration #3 at the top of the next column. A
hex head wrench for adjusting the arm angle is located
on the inside of the arm, held in place by magnets.
The arm mounts in any of three orientations, as shown
in Illustration #4 in the next column.
Orientation A is at a 45° angle from vertical for astro-
nomical observing with the altitude slow motion cable on
the right side of the mount for right hand use. When at-
taching each flexible cable, be sure the lock knob on the
cable fully engages the flat spot on the slow motion con-
trol shaft to avoid slippage when turning the control knob.
Orientation B is primarily for terrestrial observing.

Orientation C, also at 45°, is for astronomical observing
with the altitude slow motion control cable on the left side
of the mount for left hand use.
To change the arm angle, remove the two bolts holding
the vertical arm in place. Rotate the arm on its axle to the
desired angle. Thread the bolts into the horizontal arm
through the two holes that are parallel to the ground.
4.- THREE POSSIBLE ARM ORIENTATIONS
A.- Astronomical: slow motion cable will be on the right
side of your scope for right hand use.
B.- Terrestrial.
C.- Astronomical: slow motion cable will be on the left
side of your scope for left hand use.

THE TRIPOD LEGS AND SPREADER BAR: Once the
mount arm has been installed in the desired orientation,
locate the spreader bar attachment rod on the underside
of the tripod. Referring to Illustrations #5 and #6 on the
next page, undo the safety nut on the end of the rod and
set aside. Grasp the altazimuth head-tightening spinner
and, looking down on it, turn it firmly counterclockwise to
lock the altazimuth head solidly to the tripod.
Slide the spreader bar (ribbed side down) onto the at-
tachment rod until it seats firmly against the spinner. If
