HR-SNOWSENSOR (HR-SS) INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
1.
Place heating mat(s) in desired location(s).
2.
Choose a location for the HR-SS that:
___ is close enough to reach a 120V electrical outlet with a standard extension cord;
___ is close enough for the mat power plug to reach;
___ has a clear view of the sky above (not below an eave or overhang);
___ is not subjected to external heat such as from a dryer vent;
___ is high enough that the top of the HR-SS will not get buried in snow; and
___ is suitable for secure attachment of the HR-SS.
3.
Provide a suitable extension cord (exterior rated, max amp rating higher than total mat amps,
minimum 14 ga for up to 50' length & 12 ga for 100' length).
FOR POLE MOUNTING:
P.1 Remove the 36" long steel stake from the HR-SS mounting pole.
P.2 At the chosen location, drive the stake into the ground vertically until the middle white mark
touches the ground.
P.2. Slide the HR-SS pole onto the exposed stake.
FOR WALL MOUNTING:
W.1 The DS-2C has 4 mounting tabs on the large box to attach to a vertical surface. (see drawing
below)
W.2 Remove the 4 screws holding the DS-2C to the pole with 2 clamps.
W.3 Choose a fastener type that fits the holes and is suitable for the secure attachment to the
mounting surface.
W.4 Attach the DS-2C to the surface using the chosen fasteners.
4.
Set the Control Switch in the upper position (MANUAL ON).
5.
Place one GASKET on the plug PIGTAIL on the HR-SS, and the other GASKET on the mat power
plug.
6.
Connect your extension cord from your 120VAC electrical outlet to the HR-SS plug, compressing the
GASKET between them.
7.
Connect the mat power plug to the HR-SS outlet, compressing the GASKET between them.
8.
Verify that the DS-2C is showing a flashing green light and mats are warming.
