The manual includes the following warning symbols and signal words:
| Attention! Risk of injury! It identifies conditions that could pose an injury risk, if not prevented. |
| Attention! Risk of property damage! Indicates situations that may lead to damage of a product if not avoided. |
| Tip! It highlights essential information in the manual regarding the use of the item. |
The portable solid fuel grill is designed for outdoor use by individual users. Place it on a stable, fire-resistant surface to grill food, using suitable fuels like grilling charcoal or charcoal briquettes. Keep a safe distance from flammable materials and utilize proper accessories.
Do not use the grill indoors, moreover do not use inappropriate fuels such as gasoline or trash. Never leave the grill unattended and avoid overfilling it to prevent fire-related and other accidents.
Before using the grill for the first time, remove all packaging materials, clean the product with a damp cloth, and assemble it. Finally, set the grill on an even, stable, and fire-proof surface outdoors. Choose a location for the grill where you won't need to move it later. Make sure it cannot rock or sway.
Attention! Fire hazard!
Keep the grill away from flammable items. Keep a safe distance from buildings, people, animals, vegetation, and other items. Combustible materials must not be present in the hazard zone.
Follow the assembly and installation instructions for the grill carefully to ensure that the components are correctly assembled and the grill can be used safely.
Before starting to use the grill you need to have a bucket of sand ready to put out any fire. You can also use a fire extinguisher.
Attention! Risk of property damage!
Be mindful of the maximum capacity of the solid fuel compartment; otherwise, the device might overheat, resulting in its damage.
Risk of burns!
Always wear heat-resistant gloves and use tongs to arrange fuel or components like the grate, plate, or rotisserie on the grill.
Put the fuel in the fuel compartment and ignite it.
Igniting the fuel
To assist with igniting fuel, you can use either paper or, preferably, kindling that meets the EN 1860-3 standard, such as waxed wood wool.
Usually, you arrange fuel in the Atago grill in a crosswise pattern. As regards the ignition technique, we recommend doing it like an ordinary campfire: place the kindling at the bottom of the proper fuel, and light it there.
Use small pieces and kindling for the lower layers of combustible material. Place larger pieces of fuel above the kindling.
Airflow regulator/damper
The air supply regulator enables you to control the oxygen level, thereby adjusting the temperature and intensity of the fire. Opening the damper fully generates maximum heat, partially closing it lets you manage the temperature.
Recommended maximum filling with solid fuel:
Tip!
Place products intended for grilling on the grate only when the fuel is covered with a layer of ash!
Position the food above or beside the embers on the grill, and rotate it frequently to ensure uniform grilling. Follow the suggested cooking times and temperatures for different kinds of food.
Attention! Risk of injuries and property damage!
To prevent property damage or injuries, use the Atago grill as a stove only with compatible Petromax fire pots.
ATTENTION: Use of charcoal briquettes with the Petromax fire pot:
Fire pot: | on both sides | from the bottom | from the top |
![]() | ![]() | ![]() | |
ft1/ ft1-t | 6 | 2 | 4 |
ft3/ ft3-t | 12 | 4 | 8 |
ft4.5/ ft4.5-t | 19 | 6 | 13 |
ft6/ ft6-t | 28 | 9 | 19 |
ft9/ ft9-t | 28 | 8 | 20 |
Using the Petromax fire pot on the grill, with briquettes positioned underneath and on the lid, a heat source is created that cooks from both above and below, similar to an oven. The table shows the use cases for the Petromax Cabix briquette. Using different types of briquettes might lead to different results. The described briquette arrangement allows the firepot to achieve temperatures between 200-225°Celsius.
Attention!
Supply the Atago Grill only with regular, well-dried natural wood. Treated, varnished, or otherwise processed wood can emit hazardous fumes and trigger chemical reactions in the furnace.
Clear all cooled ash residues from the device after each use. You can easily disassemble the coal grate and shield for cleaning with a hand brush.
Do not leave the grill and its accessories outside without any cover. Store the grilling plate/grate only after they have fully cooled and been cleaned. We suggest a dry, well-ventilated location for winter long-term storage.
Attention! Materials intended for contact with food.
Replace the grate if rust develops over time before using it again. Rust can cause changes in food products.
Attention! Risk of injury!
Do not place fingers in the ventilation openings.
