Chapter 1 Overview Chapter 1 Overview The PTA512, PTA513, and PTA514 are high-performance air compressors designed for applications demanding the highest quality air supply. They are self contained, lightweight, and compact, with minimal vibrations due to the very low noise emitted (30 dB at 1 m) from the compressor.

Chapter 3 Installation Chapter 3 Installation 3.1 Storage The packed compressor must be stored in a dry, well ventilated, dust free area, with an ambient temperature between -10 and 40°C Maximum. 3.2 Siting Caution When choosing the site, observe the following precautions: Site the compressor on a level surface of sufficient load bearing capacity.
Chapter 3 Installation Warning Although the oil used in the compressor does not contain any hazardous substances, care should be taken to avoid contact with the skin. Caution During item (3), use only ROLOIL SINCOM/32E Fully Synthetic Compressor Oil. Do not overfill the reservoir. Damage to the oil seals could occur if the level indicated on the sight glass (see Fig. 3.1) is exceeded.

To vent system pressure, operate the pressure relief valve. 3.8.1 Scheduled Maintenance Frequencies Caution The maintenance tasks detailed in Table 3.1 must be performed within the periods stated.

Chapter 3 Installation Replacing the Oil During the following procedure, refer to Fig. 3.1 for identification of components. 1) Identify the retaining ring on the motor housing, then remove the bolt and separate the retaining ring. 2) Remove the motor housing cover. 3) Remove and retain the sealing ring.
2) Gently pull the ring in the end of the pressure relief valve until air is released. 3.8.2 Ordering Replacement Consumables Replacement compressor oil (Part No PTA1006) is available in 500 ml bottles from www.thorlabs.com, for other parts and consumables please contact your local tech support department.
