Chapter 1 – Introduction 1 Introduction Congratulations and thank you for choosing the OCEABridge wireless receiver. This guide explains how to use OCEABridge with the following Dickson products and applications: • Cobalt X wireless data loggers for monitoring temperature, humidity, and other critical physical parameters.
The diagram below shows overall operation when using OCEABridge: Data flow from wireless data loggers to OCEAView If you install more than one OCEABridge at your site, it is essential for their wireless coverage not to overlap with each other.
Description Install your OCEABridge receiver within Bluetooth wireless range of your data loggers. Add your OCEABridge receiver as infrastructure in the OCEAView web application (see OCEAView user guide for details). Use the OCEABridge embedded web application to set up your receiver.
Chapter 1 – Introduction 1.2.2 Description of status LEDs OCEABridge has six LEDs with colors and blinking patterns that vary with the receiver’s status and network traffic: Description WLAN: Indicator for 3G/4G wireless activity (see section 3.2 – Configuring the network LED, p. 27 WAN: Communication on network RJ-45 port.
Insert the provided dongle into the USB port located on the right-hand side of the receiver. Chapter 2 – Starting the receiver 2 Starting the receiver There are no switches or control buttons on the OCEABridge receiver. All settings are configured using the embedded web application. Use the configuration interface to determine how OCEABridge connects to the Internet or your local network via Ethernet or a cellular data connection.
When the receiver is ready for use, the green light turns on and remains on. The system LED blinks during OCEABridge startup. The first step in configuration is to access the embedded OCEABridge web application from your computer using an Ethernet cable.
Attention: The subnet LAN interface address is 192.168.99.0/24. If your network also uses 192.168.99.0/24, do not plug the WAN Ethernet cable into OCEABridge while you are setting up the device via the LAN connection. 2.3 Connecting to the configuration application OCEABridge is pre-configured with a fixed IP address.
Chapter 2 – Starting the receiver 2.4 Receiver properties After you connect, basic OCEABridge properties are displayed on the screen: OCEABridge receiver properties If this information is OK, then you do not need to change anything. Otherwise, change the information as desired: Host name Enter a name for your OCEABridge receiver.
In the main menu, click on Gateway Settings for OCEAView Cloud or On- premises server settings and receiver operation. 2.5.1 OCEAView Cloud server location and URLs The OCEABridge receiver must be set up to know where to send collected data. The destination corresponds to the geographical location of the OCEAView Cloud platform.
Page 19
Chapter 2 – Starting the receiver Follow these steps to set the geographical location for your OCEAView platform and datacenter: 1. Connect to OCEABridge as described previously. 2. Select Gateway Settings 3. For Cloud use, click on the Server location pull-down list (...
2. For OCEAView firmware version 3.2.1 or higher, select On-premises in the Server location pull-down list ( Enter OCEAView On-premises server URLs (firmware 3.2.1 and higher) For OCEABridge firmware versions prior to 3.2.1, click to activate the On- premises checkbox ( On-premises server URLs (firmware prior to 3.2.1)

Chapter 2 – Starting the receiver 2.6 Limiting data logger access using a whitelist OCEABridge offers a whitelist feature that enables you to restrict access to a specified list of data loggers. By default, if you do not use a whitelist, all the data loggers configured in your OCEAView solution are recognized by OCEABridge.
Page 23
If there is a problem with serial number formatting, or the serial numbers themselves, the result is “Incorrect format or serial number(s)” 4. When the whitelist test is OK, click on Save to record your changes. OCEABridge User Guide Page 23...
Chapter 3 – 3G/4G cellular network management 3 3G/4G cellular network management This section describes how to set up OCEABridge for use with a 3G/4G cellular network connection. In this case, OCEABridge collects Bluetooth wireless frames emitted by nearby data loggers and it transmits data to and from the OCEAView web platform via the cellular network.
