    This manual provides clear instructions on the correct usage of ACES lithium batteries. 1.2 General ACES Lithium batteries are designed in the Netherlands and are built with LiFePo4 or LFP cells. These cells have a nominal voltage of 3.2V. In contrast with Lithium NMC, LMO and LCO cells these LiFePo4 cells are inherently safe, since NMC, LMO and LCO cells become unstable at high temperatures.

    2.4 End of Life and disposal ACES LiFePO4 batteries are considered EOL (End Of Life) when the usable capacity drops below 70% of the initial capacity. EOL or defect lithium batteries are not allowed to put in private or industrial waste.

    For example, with N batteries in parallel, the maximum current (ImaxN) is calculated as: ImaxN = Imax × (N - 1). For batteries connected via CAN-bus with Victron or ACES, the formula changes to: ImaxN = 0.9 × Imax × N. In this case, the master battery determines the maximum current based on the connected slaves and their settings.

Enabling data transfer When connecting more than 1 battery in parallel on the CAN bus network, the ACES batteries will automatically be recognized and will set their own master/slave for sending out the data. The send out data by the master is a recalculated package of data from the master and slaves.

    Ensure the battery charge rate settings match ACES specifications (maximum C rate). To reduce thermal stress, LFP batteries should be charged at a rate of 0.5C or below. In basic terms, this means it should take approximately two hours to charge a low battery.
