The flat head of the probe supports confident angle management upon load application, regardless of the users hand size, contributing to the lower measurement bias, generated by the users when loading the probe. The images below highlight only the most common probe grips, however it is generally recommended to use the flat top surface of the housing head, to better control the angle of the probe.
UCI probes with force measurement system, typically require lower force to trigger the measurement compared to conventional UCI systems, featuring a conventional pre-defined spring load. To ensure reliable measuring results it is crucial to execute the measurements perpendicular to the surface with a maximum angle deviation of ±5°. Angle deviations will lead to inaccurate and imprecise results.
To ensure reliable measuring results it is crucial to execute the measurements perpendicular to the surface with a maximum angle deviation of ±5°, given by the standards. Angle deviations will lead to inaccurate and imprecise results. 5.2.4 Diamond tip handling Diamond is the hardest natural material known to mankind, but can it be damaged by improper usage of equipment.

1. Pop-up: Probe touches material → press to apply force. Gently place the probe just above or on the surface perpendicularly to the test surface. Upon the contact with the test surface the probe will already detect the change of the resonating frequency and generate a pop-up signal to apply the load.
4. Pop-up: Measurement too slow/fast or probe not lifted. The overall movement and load application shall be slow and constant. Should you carry out the measurement too fast, the software will prompt the message” measurement too slow/fast”. 5.5.4 Test load setup select desired load/force (HV) from HV1...
5.5.6 Filename setup To set a base filename touch the filename section and on subsequent screen type in the base filename. The Equotip supports consecutive measurement series, whereby opening a new measurement series adds the consecutive number at the end of the filename.

Having selected a standard, the users can choose the secondary unit of their choice. The following table lists the available units for each conversion standard available. If the measurement returns the message “no conversion”, it indicates that the measured value is outside of the range provided by the selected standard.
5.5.8 Setting up limit thresholds The App supports limit threshold setup for both primary and secondary units. As the outcome, the measurements outside of the pre-set tolerance will be highlighted in orange for both histogram view and table view. 1. To set up thresholds touch on the limits either on a primary scale or secondary scale area.
5.5.9 Sharing and export Sharing and export of the data is possible directly after the measurement is done, or when accessing measurements and selecting the measurement file (see the chapter Measurement file/series management). Touch the “share data” icon and select the output format of the shared data on the pop-up window.
5.5.11 Excluding single measurement points The Equotip App enables users to exclude one or several measurement points from statistics, which were considered to be done incorrectly, for example a wrongly prepared surface, or test piece measured with wrong angle. etc. After the exclusion the measurement will remain visible, but it will not be taken into the statistics and the excluded measurements will be grayed-out on the histogram and in the table.
5.5.12 Unlocking the data series / measurement, adding new measurement points to data series Initiation of new measurement will lock previously measured file. Sporadically, the users require additional measurement points after the measurement series is done. The Equotip App enables the users the modification of the measurement data for already- finished measurement series...
