- Page 2 Installation Programming Battery Type The default mode of the SmartCharger is set for an SLA battery. To select a different battery type: 1. Press and hold the PROGRAM button until all three LEDs light up 2. Press the PROGRAM button until the battery type you require lights up. Wait for 10 seconds with the button released for the charger to accept the selection.
