Purpose The portable reading system topolino pad is a medical device for magnifying text and images with voice output. Visually impaired people can compensate for their loss of visual acuity by using this device.

    Do not touch the AC adapter with wet hands. Only use the original power supply which is included in the delivery by Reinecker Vision GmbH. The use of any other equipment might lead to a product damage. If the system is equipped with batteries, only original parts from Reinecker Vision GmbH should be used for replacement.

    The iPad will only be charged via the topolino pad if the conditions described above are met. It takes approx. 4.5 hours to fully charge the topolino pad and it can be used continuously for approx. 5 hours. When the battery is almost empty, the battery symbol appears on the screen and the status LED flashes yellow.

    Open topolino pad Place the topolino pad on a flat surface and hold the base plate firmly with one hand. With the other hand, fold up the tripod on the side where the distance camera is located. Continue to hold the base plate firmly and open the device further until the back is straight.

    Removing the iPad If you want to fold up the topolino pad, you can leave your iPad attached to the device. If you still want to remove the iPad, proceed as follows: Take a corner of your iPad in your hand and slide it down from the holder.

    Installing the app To be able to use the topolino pad with your iPad, the app must be downloaded from the App Store. Search for “Snow Pad” or scan the QR code with your iPad. Note: Please note that the app only works if your iPad is connected to the topolino pad.

    Battery status When using the distance camera, this symbol shows the current charge status of the topolino pad. ON/OFF flash If your tablet has a flash, a flash symbol will appear in the top right- hand corner when using the document camera. The tablet’s flash can be switched ON/OFF by tapping it.

    Set contrast (in semi color mode) In semi color mode, you can adjust the contrast by sliding a finger up or down the right edge of the screen. Overview mode If you are at a higher zoom level, you may lose the overview and no longer know where you are in your reading template.

    Switch between dock views Press the yellow arrow to switch between the first and second page of the dock. Detailed view Here you can see your template with a red frame on the right-hand side, which can be moved with your finger. On the left-hand side, you can see the content of the red frame magnified four times.

    Press the symbol to activate or deactivate the autofocus. If you want to write under topolino pad, you should switch OFF the autofocus before you place your hand under the camera. This will prevent permanent focus adjustments.

    Play/Pause Tap the play/pause symbol to play/pause the read aloud function. Reading speed Tap the symbol to set the reading speed between 0.5 and 2x speed. Text partitioning in the image view Here you can choose whether the displayed text should be divided as a whole, in individual sections or line by line.

    Image edit Press the icon to edit the image. A new toolbar opens in which you can adjust all important settings, such as image rotation. Undo Press the symbol to undo the last change you made. Rotate image Press the symbol to rotate the image 90 degrees clockwise. You can save the rotation by tapping the tick in the top right-hand corner of the screen or discard it by tapping the cross in the top left-hand corner of the screen.

    Manage documents Press this symbol to access your saved images and documents. By default, all elements are saved in the “all” folder. By pressing the plus sign, you can create new folders and move files into the new folders with your finger. Click on “Select” to mark several files or to select all of them.

    Settings Press this symbol to access the settings. Here you can select the various sub-items on the left-hand side. Basic mode If basic mode is activated, you will see up to six previously set icons in the dock. A second page can no longer be opened in the dock. Tap the red minus sign to remove an icon.

    A red “i” appears in the settings next to the system information. You can start the update by tapping on the black bar. Note: Please ensure that the topolino pad is sufficiently charged before carrying out the update.

    To do this, plug the mains adapter into the charging socket on the left-hand side. If the topolino pad is not used for a longer period of time, the battery loses its charge even when the device is switched OFF at and this can lead to deep discharge and damage to the battery.
