  • Page 3 • Use extreme caution when working on electrical components. High output voltage from this equipment can cause injury or death. • When working on this equipment avoid hot mufflers, exhaust manifolds and engine parts which can cause severe burns. Installing and wiring a home standby generator is not a do it yourself project.

    VISUAL INSPECTION Visually inspect the unit before the initial start. Check for loose or missing parts and damages that may have occurred in shipment. If freight damages have occurred, contact the freight company. SAFETY PRECAUTIONS Before operating the generator set, read the owner’s manual and become familiar with it and your equipment.
  • Page 5 Before attempting to operate this product read and understand the operator’s manual! Starting procedure for Twister unit: 1. Compressor, generator and welder switches are in the off position (if equipped). 2. Turn key switch counter clockwise (left) to activate intake heater, hold for a minimum of 20 seconds and a maximum of 45 seconds (varies with outside temperature).

    OPERATION CAUTION Engine to drive the generator by pulleys and belt. ADJUSTING VOLTAGE Units are externally regulated. By maintaining at least 3600 RPM on these units the proper voltage of 120 volts and frequency (60Hz.) will be delivered by the generator. DANGER All gasoline and diesel engines emit carbon monoxide which can kill.
  • Page 7 INITIAL START UP AND OPERATION PROCEEDURE. Every AC Generator has been thoroughly tested and inspected before it leaves the factory. Only a minimum of service is necessary for the AC generator to give years of satisfactory power output. Every unit has a shielded, sealed and special grease packed bearings on each end. Keep the drive belt only as tight as necessary to prevent power loss.
  • Page 8 NEVER START GENERATOR WITH AN AC LOAD “ON” To check the operation of the AC generator, start the engine. Place the Control Switch to the ON position. The voltage output of the unit varies with engine speed. Look at the Voltmeter. If your engine is idling slowly, you will notice no voltage.
  • Page 9 ANSWERS TO SOME FREQUENTALY ASKED QUESTIONS Can I operate a three phase motor? No, only single phase motors up to 1 horse power. Will it charge a battery? No. AC POWER cannot be used to charge a battery, however it will operate a 120 VAC input DC battery charger.

    CONTROL PANEL WIRING The AC generator control panel furnished is used for control and monitoring for the AC generator. The Power Panel has two double AC grounding type receptacles and a voltmeter which monitors the AC output voltage. It also has a current overload protection device. The Direct Current field supply is controlled by a heavy duty in-off switch.
  • Page 11 3. Connect the Black wire from the voltage regulator, directly to the (-) negative side of the battery (not to the frame). 4. Connect the Green wire from voltage regulator to the Green wire of the Power Generator, use a Butt Connector or a wire Nut.

    This warranty extends to the original purchase order only. The generator sold is warranted to the original purchase for a period of one (1) year from the original purchase date. Airworks Compressors Corp. warrants the generator sold to be free from defects in material and workmanship if properly installed, serviced and operated within the nameplate rating under normal conditions according to the manufacturer’s written instructions.
