Audio outputs are DC coupled so it can be used to generate complex CV modulation sources too. There are 2 types of modulation in Vinia, the first is stepped (occurs every 1,4 milliseconds approx.) and very flexible, any modulation source can modify any parameter of any track. The second is the ‘audio rate...
INSTALLATION Vinia is a eurorack module so it needs a PSU with +12V / Ground / -12V. Do not hotplug the module. Turn off the PSU, plug the power cable on the 2x5 header on the back of the module, check that the -12v marches the white line, also indicated by RED STRIPE-> and then power the...

Global view This view displays information about all channels, it shows the name of the first element in the audio chain (the audio source / instrument) plus the activity of the audio inputs, envelopes, LFOs and CV inputs. Clicking on the right encoder will toggle between Main Menu and Global View.

Constructor This is the interface to add effects to a channel, also replace, move, delete or bypass them. A maximum of 11 effects can be added to a chain, apart from the audio source & output. Left encoder navigates the chain of effects. Depending if a slot or a line is selected, left click will perform EDIT or ADD effect.
Apart from the regular modulation (which happens every 1,4 milliseconds) there’s an audio rate modulation in Vinia which is calculated on every sample. For the contrary to the regular modulation, the audio rate one is available only for a few parameters of a few audio sources & processors.

○ Gain The modulation sources are limited to these three: ● Audio input - If a channel source is set to AUDIO INPUT, the audio rate modulation source will be the Envelope Follower instead of the raw audio input. ● Lfo. ●...
Channel settings: this will open an editor to set channels as stereo pairs. It is also possible to copy/paste channel settings. Trigger delay: sets the time in microseconds that Vinia will wait before processing incoming triggers. This is useful for one shot sound sources (like sample players...

source has the same number of the saved channel, these will be reassigned to the new track number, which means that if ‘channel 1’ is saved, and in the modulation sources we have selected LFO 1, envelope 1, sequencer 1…these will change if that preset is loaded on channel 2, with LFO 2, envelope 2, sequencer 2 or whatever.
Page 12
Mixer It is possible to use outs 7 & 8 as master outputs by activating the mixer. Volume, pan and reverb send can be modified on the mixer interface. Except for channels 7 & 8, all will have the independent signal present at their respective outputs.

Utilities - Import samples Vinia has an internal 16Mb internal flash memory to store samples for the Flash Sample Player. To import them they have to be placed in the folder of the microSD card named IMPORT, samples can be “.RAW” or “.wav”, (MiNd ThE cApS) mono, 16bit, 44.1KHz, they don’t need to be headless (so they can contain...

Utilities - CV input calibration: Don’t tweak this unless you exactly know what you are doing, if not, the volt / octave conversion may be affected. Utilities - CV output offset Utilities - Display settings: ● Rotate display: use this if you’d like to flip the position of the module (with connections on top or bottom)

MONITOR Several tools for visualizing what's going on inside Vinia can be accessed through this menu. MONITOR - Oscilloscope Displays the output of the selected channel. ● Left encoder: vertical zoom. ● Right encoder: horizontal zoom. ● Left encoder click: trigger detection on/off...

MONITOR - Tuner A basic tuner utility. MONITOR - LFO monitor Displays the 8 LFOs. MONITOR - CV input monitor MONITOR - Envelope follower monitor MONITOR - Performance Provides relevant information about the CPU and RAM usage.

Tesseract’s Sweet Sixteen will extend this by adding up to 16 extra CV inputs. Also midi note on/note off messages on midi channels 1 to 8 which will be mapped to channels 1 to 8 on Vinia. These midi note messages will trigger the envelopes & sample players on their respective channels, and will set the pitch of the VCOs, so basically Vinia could be used with a midi sequencer too.

Audio sources - Flash sample player Vinia has an internal 16Mb internal flash memory to store samples. To import them they have to be placed in the folder of the microSD card named IMPORT, samples can be “.RAW” or “.wav”, mono, 16bit, 44.1KHz, they don’t need to be headless (so they can contain metadata) and have to be named sequentially with numbers:...
Page 19
Files don't need to be headless, they can be mono or stereo, but for stereo ones, only the left channel would be heard, plus Vinia will be dealing with an unnecessary amount of data, so mono files are recommended for better performance.

Audio sources - Multi VCO This Oscillator is made by 5 unison oscillators with detune control. Audio sources - HARMONIC OSCILLATOR This instrument provides amplitude control for the first 8 harmonics, sculpting the shape of the waveform. Apart from that, a scanner VCA has been added too, with position, width and gain controls.

Audio sources - CHORDS This is a 4 voice oscillator to make chords based on a scale and key. Parameters are: ● Waveform: sine, triangle, pulse, sawtooth, ramp and square. ● Source: choose from the global scale or a custom one. ●...

Audio sources - DRUM SYNTH A synth conceived for percussive sounds, with 2 oscillators, filters, noise source and independent envelopes for the modulation, oscillators and noise amplitude. There are 3 main models (algorithms) which are Classic, FM and Ring. Each model has a version with the noise being mixed with the oscillators and then filtered or layered (...not being filtered).
Page 24
Audio processors - FM operator The FM Operator audio processor it’s exactly the same as the VCO. The only difference is that in the audio rate modulation section, the ‘Audio in ->’ source will be the signal coming through the chain, instead of the physical audio input / envelope follower.

Audio processors - Rectifier A full wave rectifier, which inverts the negative part of the incoming signal. Audio processors - Grain pitch shift Granulation is a process in which an audio signal is broken down into tiny segments of audio. These segments are called “grains.”...
