Operation
Normal (no events):
Power LED is on (AC power) or off (DC power). All
other LEDs are off.
Alarm events:
Alarm LED is flashing, operator alert signal is sounding, and
Alarm event indicator-counter and Alarm event list appears.
Trouble events:
Trouble LED is flashing, operator alert signal is sounding,
and Trouble event indicator-counter and event list appears. Depending on
the trouble, the CPU Fail LED may flash, and the Ground and Disable event
indicator-counters and event lists may appear.
Supervisory, Request, Call In, Emergency, Building, Other events:
Operator alert signal is sounding, the event indicator-counter and event list
appear.
Silencing alarm signals
WARNING:
The protected premises may be occupied. Do not silence alarm
signals or reset the control unit unless you are authorized to do so and only
after all occupants have been evacuated.
Pressing Alarm Silence turns off all active audible and visible notification
appliances. A new alarm event or pressing Alarm Silence again turns the
notification appliances back on.
Control unit programming may temporarily inhibit Alarm Silence after alarm
signals are activated, may prevent Alarm Silence from turning off visible
notification appliances, and may not silence alarm signals if a waterflow
alarm switch is active.
Note:
This action only silences fire alarm signals. To silence mass
notification signals, see "Silencing mass notification signals" on page 2.
To silence alarm signals:
1.
Press Alarm Silence. The LED indicates Alarm Silence is active.
Silencing the control unit
Pressing Panel Silence or acknowledging an event message turns the
operator alert signal off. New events will turn the operator alert signal back
on. If there are no new events, the operator alert signal automatically re-
sounds within 24 hours.
WARNING:
Trouble conditions may affect the control unit's ability to
provide early detection and indication of a fire. Identify the source of the
trouble and notify authorized service personnel immediately.
Note:
Only available if a button is programmed to silence the control unit.
To silence the control unit:
1.
Press Panel Silence. The LED indicates Panel Silence is active.

Activating a fire drill
Pressing Fire Drill turns on all audible and visible notification appliances.
Fire drill does not activate any alarm responses. Pressing Fire Drill again
cancels the fire drill and turns all notification appliances back off. Always
notify the fire department before activating a fire drill.
Notes
•
Only available if a button is programmed to activate a fire drill.
•
Control unit programming may prevent visible notification appliances
from turning on.
To activate a fire drill:
1.
Press Fire Drill. The LED indicates a fire drill is active.
Resetting the control unit
Pressing Reset returns the control unit to normal operation provided there
are no active initiating devices (smoke detectors, manual pull stations,
control unit switches, etc.). Make sure all initiating devices are restored to
normal before resetting the control unit.
Control unit programming may temporarily inhibit Reset after alarm signals
are activated.
Note:
This action only resets the control unit for fire events. To reset the
system for mass notification operation, see "Resetting the system when
mass notification operation is active" on page 2.
To reset the control unit:
1.
Press Reset. The LED flashes at different intervals while the control
unit is resetting, and then turns off.
Releasing service
This control unit may be used to actuate an extinguishing agent release
system that includes an abort switch and a manual release switch. If so,
please note that operation of the manual release switch overrides an active
abort switch.
Maintenance recommendations
Inspect and test the fire alarm system in accordance with NFPA 72 and
other applicable standards, and the local authority having jurisdiction.
Replace the batteries every five years or sooner as required.
