MAINTENANCE 251TSN MAINTENANCE Moving parts can amputate fingers or cause severe injuries. Keep hands, clothing and loose objects away from all openings. Always stop unit, disconnect spark plug or remove battery, and make sure all moving parts have come to a complete stop before removing obstructions, clearing debris, or servicing unit.
251TSN MAINTENANCE Maintenance Intervals Units equipped with a Momentary STOP Switch automatically return to RUN position. Engine can start unintentionally. Always remove spark plug lead from spark plug before assembling or performing maintenance procedures, otherwise serious personal injury can result.
251TSN MAINTENANCE Air Filter Check before every use. CLOSE choke ( Raise lifting hook (A), and push towards the lower position. Release the air filter cover latch (B) with included T-wrench (C). Lift the cover (D) and remove the air filter (E).
MAINTENANCE 251TSN Check Fuel System • Check before every use. • After refueling, make sure fuel does not leak from around fuel line, fuel grommet, or fuel tank cap. • In case of fuel leakage there is a danger of fire. Stop using the machine immediately and request your dealer to inspect or replace.
251TSN MAINTENANCE Automatic Oiler • The discharge volume of the automatic oiler is adjusted to approximately 7 ml/min at 7000 RPM, prior to shipment from the factory. When turned counterclockwise and the screw stops, the position indicates maximum discharge volume of 13 ml/min at 7,000 RPM.
MAINTENANCE 251TSN Guide Bar Clean before using. Clean groove (A) of the guide bar with a small screwdriver. Clean oil holes (B) with a wire. Invert guide bar periodically. Clean the guide bar mount area before installing the guide bar.
251TSN MAINTENANCE Clean the periphery of the ignition coil and the flywheel magneto. Assemble the components in reverse order. Spark Arrester Muffler • The spark arrester muffler controls the exhaust noise and prevents hot, glowing particles of carbon from leaving the muffler.
MAINTENANCE 251TSN Remove spark arrester screen (C) from muffler body (D). Clean carbon deposits from muffler components. Replace spark arrester screen (C) if it is cracked, or has holes burned through. Assemble components in reverse order. Note: When cleaning carbon deposits, be careful not to damage the catalytic element inside muffler body (D).
251TSN MAINTENANCE Never use a metal tool to scrape carbon from the exhaust port. Do not scratch the cylinder or piston when cleaning the exhaust port. Do not allow carbon particles to enter the cylinder. Use a wood or plastic scraping tool to clean deposits from cylinder exhaust port.
