PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT
Practice using the wrap with a stuffed animal or doll before baby arrives, so you're familiar the first time you wrap your newborn. (Pro tip: Stand in front of a mirror and check your work as you go.) Most caregivers find it takes about six tries to get the hang of it—you've got this!

Simply tie on the wrap using the Basic Tie, then follow the Classic Carry or Newborn Carry instructions on the following pages, depending on baby's age and preference.
Find the tag at the center of your wrap. Place it at your sternum.
Bring one end of the wrap behind you* and cross it over the opposite shoulder. Repeat with the other end to create an 'X' on your back.
*Tip: Hold the top tagged edge without bunching or gathering the fabric to ensure your wrap stays flat and untwisted as you tie on.
Gather ends and push them through the tag section. Pull down until taut. Your wrap should be equally snug with each portion "hugging" your body. This will ensure baby doesn't "slide" or "sink" in the wrap while wearing.
Cross ends to create an 'X' on the front. This 'X' will determine at what height baby sits on your body.
Bring ends to the back. If this is where they meet, you can tie your knot here. If not, you can continue wrapping around your natural waist until you are ready to tie.
Make a double knot anywhere around your waist. Front, back, or side are all good options.
0+ MONTHS
Classic Carry (legs out) is suitable from birth. Baby should be in a "deep seat" with hips at or below the height of their knees.
This is also commonly called the 'M' position.
Pull the inside cross strap (the one closest to you) away from your body. Slide baby's leg through the cross strap, leaving it at the back of baby's knee.
Slide baby's other leg through the outside cross strap, leaving it at the back of baby's knee. While supporting baby, allow their hips to settle into a seated position with their hips at or below the height of their knees.
Spread the inside cross strap first, covering baby from knee to knee and shoulder to shoulder. Repeat by spreading the outside cross strap from knee to knee and shoulder to shoulder. Baby's bum should be centered in the middle of each cross strap.
Place baby's feet through the midsection (that's the part with the tag).
Using both hands, spread the midsection up over baby's back to the nape of the neck.
You can spread the shoulder straps out and away from your neck and may use one shoulder strap for added head and neck support over the back of baby's head. Baby should be in a deep seat, wellsupported, upright, and tummy-totummy with the wearer. You should be able to tilt your chin and kiss baby's head.
0-3 MONTHS
The Newborn Carry is another option for babies up to 3 months who prefer added warmth or snugness. Once baby begins to "push up" in the wrap with their feet, switch to the Classic Carry.
For the Newborn Carry, place baby in the Classic Carry, then pull the bottom edge of the midsection down over baby's legs and feet.
CHECK FOR T. I. C. K. S.
TIGHT
Your wrap should be tight enough to hug baby close for optimal support.
IN VIEW AT ALL TIMES
You should be able to see baby's face by simply glancing down.
CLOSE ENOUGH TO KISS
By tilting your head forward, you should be able to kiss baby on the head.
KEEP CHIN OFF CHEST
Baby should never be curled so their chin is forced onto their chest, which can restrict breathing.
SUPPORTED BACK
Baby should be held comfortably close, so their back is supported in a natural upright position and their tummy and chest are against the wearer.
For a complimentary fit check, email a photo of you and baby wrapped to advice@sollybaby.com.
There are multiple ways to take baby out. The most common is to reverse the steps for putting them in.
While continuing to support baby, peel down the midsection to the backs of baby's knees. Then pull the outside cross strap to the side, followed by the inside cross strap. From there, you can simply lift baby out of the wrap. If you have a sleeping baby, slide your hands under each shoulder strap and slip the straps off over your shoulders (as if you're taking off a backpack) to completely free baby of the wrap and minimize disruption.
CARE INSTRUCTIONS
To maintain the durability and original shape of the fabric: Machine wash cold, gentle cycle. Do not bleach. Tumble dry low. Pretreat any spots with a product containing enzymes prior to drying to avoid setting the stain.
To prevent unintended holes: Avoid washing with other clothing or items with snaps, buttons, Velcro, or zippers. If your washing machine has an agitator, consider using a delicates bag. Refrain from clipping anything, including pacifier clips, directly to the fabric.
STORAGE INSTRUCTIONS
When you're not using your wrap, you can store it in the built-in pocket. Feel free to stuff and go—the wrinkles will stretch out the next time you tie it on.
For long-term storage, place Solly Baby items in an airtight container.
First, double-check that your wrap is snug against your body when tying on with no sneaky slack. Before you place baby in, your wrap should feel as if you put on a swimsuit top over your shirt.
Second, tie your double-knot at your natural waist, not down around your hips, to help prevent any loosening or lowering.
When placing baby in, ensure their bum is in the center of each cross strap (as if each cross strap is a little hammock). Spreading the cross straps from knee to knee will help them settle into a "deep seat" with their knees at or above the height of their bum—and keep both of you feeling fully supported.
Yes. Because baby is wrapped high and tight in the Solly, neither baby nor the wrap should interfere with your incision. However, every person's delivery and recovery are different. Consult with your healthcare provider before wearing.
Yes. Once baby has developed head and neck control and you have established your nursing relationship and wrapping skills independently, it is possible to nurse in the wrap. For a tutorial on how to do so safely, visit sollybaby.com.
