ANTARES MA-33M R582 1. INTRODUCTION. The Antares MA-33M R582 has been designed and manufactured in accordance with the design standard specified by the ASTM consensus standard body for weight shift control aircraft. The design requirements are detailed in ASTM document F 2317/F 2317M. This instruction follows the product information required under ASTM standard F 2457.

2.4 General description. The Antares MA-33M R582 trike is a two seat (tandem type) weight shift controlled Ultralight aircraft, includes the trike (buggy), and the wing. The trike (buggy) is the tricycle undercarriage, the landing gear, the cockpit (front fairing), the gas tank, the power plant (engine), and propeller.
AIRCRAFT OPERATING INSTRUCTION ANTARES MA-33M R582 or lowered. Vertical mast tube is attached to the base tube through the two 4 mm. thick titanium plates. There is 46 mm. OD front upright tube which connected in between the bottom base tube and the vertical mast tube. There is rectangular seat frame and engine mount assembly component in the trike base.

(hang bracket). Variations of cockpit and fuel loading cannot influence the aircraft’s balance. The Antares MA-33M R582 aircraft is therefore not critical in regards to centre of gravity. However, distribution of load in a trike has an affect on the in-flight attitude of the aircraft.
AIRCRAFT OPERATING INSTRUCTION ANTARES MA-33M R582 3.7 Other limitations. Maximum Cross Wind - 6m/s Maximum Wind Strength - 12m/s Maximum Ambient Operating Temperature + 40 …-10 deg C No person who is untrained or unqualified in weight shift controlled flight or, who is unfamiliar with the wing and trike combination, should ever attempt to pilot the ultralight aircraft unless under professional instruction.
AIRCRAFT OPERATING INSTRUCTION ANTARES MA-33M R582 4.3 In-flight electrical trim mechanism operation (optionally). Antares MA-33M R582 Ultralight aircraft could be equipped with the electrical trim mechanism for trimming the ultralight aircraft in pitch. SPECIFICATION: 9 – 14 V Voltage supply...

AIRCRAFT OPERATING INSTRUCTION ANTARES MA-33M R582 5.2.1 Wing preflight inspection. The design of the wing is such that junctions not open to view may be reached from zipped inspection panels or by spreading the sail open. Start at the A-frame or control frame of right wing and move around the wing making the following checks.

AIRCRAFT OPERATING INSTRUCTION ANTARES MA-33M R582 5.2.2 Trike Pre-flight Inspection. No leaks from fuel system and engine. No leaks from oil system and engine Fuel filter clean and operational. Sufficient fuel for flight. Coolant is level. Radiator mounts secure and operational.
IGNITING FUEL 5.5 Helmet recommendation. The open cockpit of the Antares trike exposes the occupants to the elements during flight and exposes them to objects outside of the ultralight in an emergency situation. Helmets and eye protection are recommended for occupants for protection from precipitation, strike by insects. Helmets are also recommended for risk reduction during an emergency landing of the ultralight aircraft.

AIRCRAFT OPERATING INSTRUCTION ANTARES MA-33M R582 WARNING NEVER LEAVE YOUR ULTRALIGHT AIRCRAFT UNATTENDED WHILE THE ENGINE IS RUNNING. CAUTION BEWARE OF LOOSE STONES IN THE RUN UP AREA. LOOSE STONES CAN BE SUCKED UP BY THE PROPELLER AND CAUSE SEVERE PROPELLER DAMAGE IN A VERY SHORT TIME.

AIRCRAFT OPERATING INSTRUCTION ANTARES MA-33M R582 Always maintain climb angle within limits 30 degrees nose up. Very steep climb is dangerous and can result in an aircraft stall. CAUTION HIGH ANGLE CLIMBS NEAR THE GROUND SHOULD BE AVOIDED. WARNING NEVER STALL THE AIRCRAFT WITH THE NOSE PITCHED UP BEYOND 45 DEGREES.
AIRCRAFT OPERATING INSTRUCTION ANTARES MA-33M R582 WARNING The upward wing may need to be lowered at the start of the take off procedure in higher crosswinds but make sure the wings are level at the point of liftoff or a turn immediately following the liftoff will result.

AIRCRAFT OPERATING INSTRUCTION ANTARES MA-33M R582 7.3 Engine failure on climb out. If your engine quits on climb out, maintain airspeed, reduce angle of attack and land straight a head if possible. Proceed as follows: Maintain control. Maintain airspeed and best glide speed or higher.

AIRCRAFT OPERATING INSTRUCTION ANTARES MA-33M R582 7.7 Engine Fire While In-Flight. For fire occurring while in-flight, the initial procedure would be to maintain control of the aircraft and evaluate the extent of the fire. This emergency is unlikely to occur but to avoid any further problems, use common sense and land the ultralight safely.
AIRCRAFT OPERATING INSTRUCTION ANTARES MA-33M R582 For using emergency rescue system proceed as follows: Throttle OFF. Ignition OFF. Tighten seat belts. Check that emergency rescue system pin is removed. Deploy emergency parachute. Prepare for the forced landing. 7.12 Ignition Circuit Failure.
Page 29
AIRCRAFT OPERATING INSTRUCTION ANTARES MA-33M R582 There are following factors which will increase takeoff distance: 1). Reduced engine power. 2). Rough runway surfaces. 3). Tail or cross wind. 4). Uphill takeoff. 5). Air temperature above 15 deg C. 6). Runway elevation above sea level.
The Antares trike has a single fuel tank. When the tank is being filled there may be a slight pressure differential between the sides of the tank, causing the fuel cap side to fill slightly faster than the other side. Allow time for the breather valves to equalize the pressure to allow complete filling and, check that both sides are sufficiently full.
AIRCRAFT OPERATING INSTRUCTION ANTARES MA-33M R582 9.8 Cooling System. Water-cooling system capacity is 2.5 L. The coolant should be replaced according to the Rotax maintenance manual, current issue. Please refer to the directive, which is available from the Rotax website: SB-912-043, September 04.
