1. 1. Symbols used 1.1In the documentation 1.1.1 Warning notices - Structure and meaning Warning notices warn of dangers to the user or people in the vicinity. Warning notices also indicate the con- sequences of the hazard as well as preventive action.
1.2 On the product Observe all warning notices on products and ensure they remain legible! DANGER – Exposure of live parts on opening the i40! Risk of (fatal) injury or heart failure from electric shocks on contact with live components (e.g. master switch, printed circuit boards).
10" - 27" and a rim width of 1" - 20". The i40 is to be used exclusively for this purpose and solely for the range of applications specified in these instructions.
3.2 Prerequisites The i40 must be installed on a flat surface made of concrete or similar material and anchored in position. An uneven or vibrating surface can lead to inaccurate unbalance measurements. 4. Commissioning 4.1 Unpacking Remove the steel bands and fasteners.
Lift i40 carefully. Secure the i40 with bolts on the floor. 4.3 Power on ! i40 use DC 5V power supply, which is compatible with cell phone type-C power cable or power bank. 5 Fitting and removing the wheel Wheel slip! WARNING –...
3. Use a wire brush to remove any dirt. Place the wheel on the shaft against the cone(1). Push the unlocked quick-action clamping nut onto the shaft(2) and press firmly against the wheel (3). Release the lock and turn the quick clamping nut clockwise until the wheel is firmly braced.
6 Program structure After the i40 is switched on, the software version appears in the control/display panel for several seconds. After this, both displays show the value 0. 6.1 Control/display panel Fig. 9: LEDs on the control/display panel...

By convention, the Plane/internal weight is that closest to the object holder tray; vice-versa, the Plane/external weight is always the farthest from the object holder tray. Alu2 and Alu3 buttons are hotkeys for quick Alu mode selections. 6.5 Entering of wheel data for standard programs Wheel data is entered in accordance with the selected balancing program.

verified using the keys. If electronic rim distance and diameter measurement is not possible, wheel data can also be entered manually. To enter the rim data manually, the electronic caliper gauge must be deactivated. Contact the after-sales service to deactivate the electronic caliper gauge. 2.
6.5.2 Measuring the width 1. The rim width can be read off the rim or determined with the width gauge. Fig. 14: Determining rim data with width gauge Rim width scale Inner tip for rim width 2. Use <-> or <+> to enter the rim width value measured in "inches". For certain types of rim, the width is given in "mm".
6.6.1 Automatic measurement of Distance and Diameter * Select optional 2D measurement arm to activate this function. Position the2D arm for rim distance and diameter in correspondence of the first balancing plane and keep it in this position for one second. An acoustic signal sounds to indicate that the position has been registered.
WARNING – Incorrectly balanced wheels Risk of injury due to change in handling characteristics of vehicle. i40 must be positioned on a flat surface and must be firmly bolted to the base. Use the specified accessories (cone, spacer rings).
7.2.1 Spring-clip weights and adhesive weights for standard programs LEDs in arrow form indicate the direction in which the wheel has to be turned to reach the 12 o’clock position for securing the balancing weight. In the following description the audio is activated. Internal weight fixing: Turn the wheel by hand.
Internal weight fixing: 1. Turn the wheel by hand. The LED (Fig.20, pos.8) lights-up as soon as the correct position for fixing the balancing weight is reached and an acoustic signal sounds to confirm the correct position. 2. Fasten the balancing weight of the value indicated on the left display in the highest perpendicular position (12 o'clock) of the wheel if it is a clamp weight, otherwise use the 2D arm for an adhesive weight.
1. Press the <SPLIT> button. The left display shows N and the right display shows the currently set number of spokes. Both <SPLIT> button LEDs light up. 2. Use <-> or <+> to enter the number of spokes. The value is shown in the right-hand display.
Blade for scraping the adhesive weights Once the correct position of the balancing counterbalance is reached, rest the spring-clip weight on the rim edge. Fix the spring-clip weight on the rim using the weight positioning clamp hammer (2). Use the bit (1) of the weights positioning clamp to remove the spring-clip weight. 7.4 Fixing the adhesive weights * Select optional 2D measurement arm to activate this function.
7.4.1 Attachment of adhesive weights using the electronic caliper * Select optional 2D measurement arm to activate this function. Insert the adhesive weight of the value required for balancing in the specific seat on the feeler; Remove the feeler towards balancing position and wait for the acoustic confirmation signal;...

Hand spin to start. Measurement commences. The i40 must display precisely this unbalance (value and position) on this side. The value indicated for the other side must not exceed 5 g. To check the position of the unbalance, turn the wheel until the position recommended for attachment of the balance weights is attained.
Unplug the electrical connection. 12.2 Change of location If the i40 is passed on, all the documentation included in the scope of delivery must be handed over together with the unit. The i40 is only ever to be transported in the original or equivalent packaging.
