Denk II & Standard Universal Power x Switch Packages™
This manual contains instructions for using either The Denk II or Standard Universal Power x
Switch System with Refractors, Newtonians, SCTs and other telescope designs (ex. Mak-Newts,
Maksutovs and other "sub-groups"). All Universal Power x Switch Packages include the optical
accessories that will allow your Denk Binoviewer to reach focus at several magnifications in the
majority of telescopes currently available. Instructions for using the Self Centering Diopter
Holders (SCD Holders) as well as cleaning the prisms of your binoviewer, other optical
components, and the mechanical parts of the system are also provided. Specifications and other
information that is covered can be found in the table of contents.
Depending upon which system you have purchased, please refer to the section covering "The
Denkmeier Standard Universal Power x Switch Package" or "The Denk II Universal Power x
Switch Package" before using your Denk Binoviewer System. Instructions for Standard and Denk
II Systems cover use in Refractors, SCTs (Schmidt Cassegrain Telescopes), or Newtonian
Telescopes. Other telescopes that are to be used in the same manner will be listed within the
section of each of the three major designs with which they share operational instructions.
Descriptions of some available optional accessories and their use are found in the "Accessories"

Warranty and Return Policy
All Denkmeier Optical products are guaranteed to be free from mechanical and optical defects.
Our warranty extends for one year following customer receipt of all merchandise. Denkmeier
Optical, Inc. will repair or replace any product and will collimate the binoviewer within that time
period if alignment problems are suspected to have occurred, free of charge. The warranty is
transferable during the first year to a third party and shall be valid if accompanied by a copy of
the original dated invoice. All items may be returned for a full refund within 30 days of receipt of
the product. The returned items must be free from damage and in original condition. Original
shipping costs are not refundable.

  • Page 3 SCD Holder, otherwise eyepieces with longer barrels may prevent the diopter from being lowered below that point during use. This step is unnecessary when using Denkmeier Brand Eyepieces because our eyepieces have been designed for a perfect fit when used with any Denkemeier Binoviewer Holder.
  • Page 4 “SCT Use”. Using The Power x Switch Arms When using the Dual Arm Power x Switch included with all Denk II Power x Switch Packages, there are three possible positions that the arms can be in: 1. Logo-Side Arm “IN” (figure 1) 2.

  • Page 8 “OUT” position (Figure 9). Most telescope focuser knobs will need to be rotated counter-clockwise from where a single eyepiece focus position was. This is “Normal” magnification mode. With the Denkmeier Binoviewer 114.5mm light path, this is approximately 15% greater magnification as compared to the same eyepiece with no binoviewer being used.
  • Page 9 Universal Package with SCTs when using the Logo-Side reducer arm. For those using only an SCT, choose the Standard or Denk II SCT Power x Switch Package and D21 Eyepieces. The new Power x Switch Star Diagonals are also a very good choice for SCTs with single eyepiece use or binoviewer use.

    After carefully securing the 2” star diagonal in your telescope focuser tube, place the Denk II with Power x Switch into the eyepiece receptacle of your star diagonal and make sure that it is also well secured by tightening the diagonal set-screw.

See instructions included for the specific telescope type being used with the Denkmeier Power Switch System for more details.     Vault. Each Vault is made of anodized aluminum and is fully CNC Machined and laser engraved. Vaults are included with all Denkmeier eyepiece pairs. The eyecup is folded down and the eyepiece is threaded onto the clear anodized base of the Vault. Then the cover may be slipped over the eyepiece and threaded to the base.

  • Page 29 Following these instructions will prevent any eyeglass lens damage from occurring. Denkmeier Eyepieces are covered by a one-year warranty from time of purchase for any mechanical or optical failure during normal use. Disassembly or tampering with Denkmeier Eyepieces may make warranty null and void.
