TROUBLESHOOTING
Strain Sensor Bar & Pickup Coil
FOR 201-EBT-1XB, 201-EBT-2XB, 201-EBT-3XB, & 201-EBT-4XB
There are several reasons why a Right Weigh gauge might have trouble detecting a sensor. If there is a problem, the gauge will read
"Sen '_' Not Found" on startup, or "Bar '_' Not Found" (where '_' is the identifying letter of the sensor). Each time the gauge is
powered on, it checks the sensors in alphabetical order. If a problem is found with one of them, it stops checking and reports the
error message. For example, if the system is installed on a tandem axle suspension, and the message is "Sen B not found" this means
that sensor A is OK and working, but sensor B was not detected. If the message is "Sen A not found" this means that sensor A was
not detected, but sensor B may or may not be working, since it hasn't been checked yet. We recommend during installation that
sensor A be located at the front of the vehicle, but you should trace the wires using the labels on the harness to confirm.
Mounting Blocks
To access components for troubleshooting, the metal cover will need to be removed. Loosen the hose clamp and slide it to one side.
Lift the metal cover off to reveal the tension bar, pickup coil, and mounting blocks.
** Depending on the manufacture date, the tension bar will be retained by blocks with either set screws or bolts.
Following are the most common reasons why sensors are not detected.
Problem 1: Tension bar preload is out of range
If the tension bar preload is too tight or too loose, it will not be detectable by the gauge. This doesn't mean that your
bolts or set screws are too tight or too loose, it means that the round ends of the tension bar are compressed or
extended too far. This is the most common problem on new installations.
