    Installation and connections Connections General section 1. Connect the circular end of the power cable to the "Power" connector of your KiRoad Performance and the pin plug on the other end to the power supply or accumulator (not included). 2. Connect one end of the Ethernet cable to the "LAN" connector of your KiRoad and the other end to the computer.

    Operation 6. Operation Network connection Ensure that either the LAN or the USB cable is connected to your KiRoad Performance as well as to the PC. For fur- ther information in this regard please refer to section 5.2. Don’t connect the KiRoad Performance to the local net- work when the WLAN is activated and a fixed IP address is set.

  • Page 21 Operation Measurement display On the "Measurement Display" page the individual mea- suring channels of the connected wheel force transducers are displayed. The main channels include all 6 compo- nents of the force sensor in the fixed, wheel-center related coordinate system. Furthermore, the current angularity and angle speed are displayed during spinning applications and optional accel- eration signals when used for non-spinning applications.

Important: Make sure that no angle error is active when performing one of the options. Beforehand, the wheel must be turned until an angle is displayed in the live data.

Sensor settings On the "Sensor Settings" page you can execute important settings for the individual wheel force transducers, which includes the name (appears also on the display in the wheel section of your KiRoad Performance) and the defi- nition of the wheel position (right or left).
  • Page 27 Operation With an existing ID module, the load cell radius will be read out automatically. Otherwise it can be entered here. The entry in the ID module always overwrites the manu- ally entered value. The KiRoad Performance allows an individual setting of warning limits for the wheel force signals.

For spinning applications you can select CAN, Ethernet or Aditec, for non-spinning applications you can select Ether CAT (field bus) or SSI.
  • Page 29 Operation For spinning applications: on the "Digital Channels" page you can copy the desired channels via simple drag and drop function into the output directory and delete them via the recycle bin. If you use CAN bus, you will be also informed about the estimated bus utilization.

On the "Analog Output Settings" page you can select and configure these. The conversion of the signal sensitivity can be set individually. For this purpose, enter the desired global analog output range in volts.
  • Page 31 Operation Calibration Your KiRoad Performance supports the latest 6x6 com- pensation matrices of the hexapod calibration facility and has an integrated matrix data base. On the "Compensa- tion Matrices" page you can upload the cm files and man- age them according to the number of the inner part. The files are stored in the device without a following "Save to device".

  • Page 33 Operation System information The "System Information" page provides an overview of the hardware and firmware version status of your KiRoad Performance under "Control Unit".   • Page 35 Operation General settings On the "General Settings" page you can adjust the net- work settings of your KiRoad Performance, which includes the IP address and the settings for the wireless network (WLAN). Improper adjustment of the network settings may cause a connection loss of your KiRoad Performance.
  • Page 36 The setting options are very limited how- ever, you can only carry out the zero offset under sensor adjustment. Use password "Kistler" to reactivate the administrator mode. You can operate the KiRoad Performance Type 9817B ...3 in both spinning and non-spinning applications. To activate non-spinning mode for stationary use, change the working mode accordingly.
  • Page 37 Operation Event log All notes, warnings and error messages of your KiRoad Performance including date and time stamp are saved in the "Event Log". You can store this list locally on your computer (Download Log) or delete it (Clear History). The displayed error messages displayed and will not be displayed again unless confirmed with Confirm.

Wheel Database The KiRoad Performance saves the settings made in a data record which is referenced with the serial number of the respective wheel force sensor, cf. Chapter 6.5.1. Preparing a measuring drive Before any measurement is started, the WFT system must have been switched on for at least half an hour and the WFT must have cycled through at least two full revo- lutions to synchronize the angular measurement and to correct angle counting.
  • Page 53 Operation The final step before starting a measurement is Signal Offset Drive. The signals which do not depend on the angle of rotation of the WFT (Fy and My) are set to zero. For angle-dependent signals (Fx, Fz, Mx and Mz) the static part of the sinusoidal signal is subtracted.

    Operation Preparing the test lab operation Before any measurement is started, the WFT system must have been switched on for at least half an hour. For wheel force sensors installed stationary in the test laboratory, you can define an additional angular offset under Sensor Settings.

    "Incompatible hardware!" The connected hardware is no longer supported by the KiRoad Performance. If the hardware works properly using System 2000 electronics, contact Kistler for a replacement. "Limit error on channel …!" The measured force on the channel(s) shown exceeds 95% of the full scale value.
