In order
to ensure
proper
operation of this marvel of electronics engineering, be sure to
carefully read this manuai and follow the instructions contained
herein. Keap this manual on hand for tater reference.
PRECAUTIONS
« This unit is constructed of precision eiectranic components and
therefore should
not be exposed
ta temperature
extremes,
sudden
temperature
changes,
bending,
twisting,
or
strong
impacts.
* The battery should be removed from the unit if it becomes
axhausted.
Be sure to repiace the battery every two years
regardiess of how
much
it is used to avoid the chance of
malfunctions due to battery leakage. Never allow batteries ta be
incinerated.

toss or claims by third parties which may arise through use of
this unit.

* Always perform calculations by pressing the correct keys while
monitoring results on the display.
BATTERY REPLACEMENT "®
* Note that either battery replacament or the reset operation will
erase all data stored in the unit. important data should be copied
down on paper in advance of these operations.
* This unit is powered by one lithium battery (CAR2016),
* The following procedure should be performed when the display
of the unit becomes difficult to read:
1} Press the lor key to turn the power of the unit OFF.
2} Pull out the battery holder as itlustrated.
3} Remove the old battery.
4) Press the reset button («RESET) on the back of the unit with a
thin, pointed abject for at least 4 seconds.
5} Wipe the surfaces of new battery with a soft, dry cloth and
load it inta the holder so that the positive poie @ is facing
upwards.
6) Insert the battery holder back into the unit unti it snaps into
place.
7} Firmiy press the reset button again.
Nate that this operation will erase all
data stored in fhe unit.
*The operation in step 7 should cause the
decimal mode to be set to "F", and "0."
to appear on the display. Should this
fall, repeat step 7. Should it fail again,
repeat steps 1 through 7.

The power of the unit is automatically switched off approximately
6 minutes after the jast key operation, Once this occurs, power can
be restored by pressing the 4§ key. Both stored data and memory
contents ara maintained when power is switched off by the auto
power off function or by pressing the oF key.
CURRENCY CONVERSION FUNCTION @
The currency conversion function of this unit allows storage of up
to 10 rates (mo-—mg) for instant conversion of dollars to pounds,
pounds
to francs, etc. This function has wide applications for
travel, business trips, or any other international! transactions.
CONVERSION
SETTINGS
After
setting
the
two
currencies
to
be
converted,
set
the
conversion rate. Data entry should be performed in the format:
Left segment (CURRENCY #74}: Right segment (CURRENCY #2) =
1: RATE
Ex.) Set $ m ¥170 ($1 ~ ¥470) to memory 0 {mo}.
1) First
press
the i) key ("LOOK"'

then

wi Key to specify the SET mode {'SET" displayed).

* Confirm that the Mi mark on the right side of the display is
indicating "F''. If this mark is not indicating "F", refer to the
section titled "DECIMAL MODE".
2) Press the ln key to display the cursor.

3) Enter the monetary sympoi for CURRENCY #1 {up to three
characters}.
With
each
press
of the 'ar key,
the entered
characters change in the sequence:
$+£--¥-DM—FF> 7 A>...
>Z> bel pars

Pressing
the 'wt! key changes
in the characters
in reverse
sequence.
* DM and FF cannot be entered while the cursor is in the last
{third} column of each ae
* Holding
down
either [ug or [q4i causes
the
characters
to
change at high speed in the respective sequence.
* The | key can also be used to input spaces.
* $ (dollar), £ (pound), ¥ {yen}, DM (Deutsche mark} and FF (French
franc) and yuan are all preset. Other currencies can be entered
_ «using the characters A—Z, and b—t.

9) Repeat the above procedure from step 2) after pressing
the
key to set subsequent data items.

OFF.
* Setting data in a memory that already contains data erases th
previous data and stores the newly set data.
