<1> Safety Precautions (1) Precautions on operation ● The case of the detector is a plastic molding. To prevent static electricity from being generated, take measures such as WARNING spraying water on the detector when carrying it. ● Do not touch the terminals of the converter with the power turned on. Otherwise, electric shock may result.

● In case of a failure, replacement or modification of internal parts for recovery by the customer is not allowed. CAUTION ● If a failure occurs, contact your service dealer or Asahi Kasei Technosystem. (4) General precautions ● Never handle the product in any manner not described in this manual.
<2> Other Precautions Standard service life of this product The service life of this product is 10 years from the start of use, although it depends on the operating environment of the customer. If used after 10 or more years have elapsed, functions of this product may not be maintained due to aging degradation.
<3> Warranty These Warranty Terms (hereinafter referred to as “the Warranty") apply to all cases provided by Asahi Kasei Technosystem Corporation (hereinafter referred to as “ATS”) for this product (Apolarm™ C "detector/converter" and also optional items listed in this manual) only if used in accordance with the instructions in the manual.

(c) Detection oil layer Regardless of the type of oil that flows, the detection oil layer is almost constant in a range of 3 to 5 mm. Highly viscous oil is detected when the oil layer in contact with all the electrodes becomes 3 to 5 mm in thickness.
5-2. Installation (1) Installation location selection The leaked-oil layer will be thinner inversely proportional to increased spread diffusion area. Therefore, it is important to collect the oil in one place. Collecting oil in one place facilitates oil recovery and prevents the spread of disasters, greatly contributing to improved reliability of the detector.

(3) Notes on installation [1] Relationship between detection oil layer and oil leak amount at detection The oil leak amount to issue the signal is expressed by the following formula: The oil leak amount at detection = (Detection oil layer of detector) x (Pit surface area). Particularly when installing to an oil-water separation tank or a drainage pit with large surface area, it is necessary to consider partitioning with an oil separator, leading to better practical sensitivity as a result.

[7] Detection oil layer for cable load The cable weight is approx. 100 g/m, and is adjusted to detect 4 mm of kerosene when a load of 1 m is applied. Since the detection oil layer is proportional to the depression amount of the electrodes, the detection oil layer will increase when a load is applied to the float.

6. Maintenance and inspection For the detector, the principles and structural design requiring only little maintenance are adopted. The product is resistant to slag, electrode contamination, stain, and others. However, in order to ensure that it functions as intended, note the following points. 6-1.
6-2. Periodic inspection (1) The Apolarm™ C is a kind of safety device. In case of oil leak, the product must operate certainly. Therefore, check the functions periodically, once every 1 to 3 months. (4) Blown fuse A fuse is provided in the input protection section of the converter, but it is prohibited for the customer to replace the fuse. (5) Other errors (a) Detection sensitivity deterioration If the detection oil layer thickens after the actual fluid test, clean the electrodes of the detector. If normality is not recovered after that, the detector fails.

[1] Precautions for application 1-1. Purpose and area of application - This product is used to monitor oil leaks from tanks in oil handling facilities and pump yards. The detector is installed to and used in hazardous and non-hazardous areas and the safety device is installed to non-hazardous areas.
